Xon Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Hi fellow rolla owners! Few weeks ago I bought a KE35 coupe for my girlfriend, it's our first Corolla and my first carby car in a long time. Annoyingly the distributor cap has developed a crack in it which is making the car undrivable while it's cold, and I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacement. The car's got a 4k block with 3k heads in it at the moment, with a brown distributor cap and appears to have an electronic ignition coil. Anyone have any idea whether it's likely to be a denso or bosch unit? Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Spray it with WD40 or CRC 556 or Q20 or any of those, that will help a lot. It should be written on it I think, make and model number... Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 picture would tell a thousand words in this case!? Quote
Xon Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks guys, just took the cap down to Auto One and they just happened to have an identical replacement. It was a bosch unit, part no. GB708. altezzaclub would the WD40 stop it from arcing across the crack? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I think he was just suggesting the WD40 to clean the cap up so you could find the part number. Quote
Xon Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 Ah, right. I've got the old cap sitting next to me and there's definitely no part numbers on it :( But I just fitted the new cap (and fully charged battery :blinks: ) and she runs like a dream now, the girly will be very happy. Quote
