nissan recovery vehicle Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 just picked up a bargain from work today {bundamba wreckers} ke70 with a 5k so now i have a ke70 {5k} and an update ke70 {4k} so far i have 3 engine ideas these are turbo 4k turbo 5k turbo 5k with 4k head this idea because bloke i know has this motor n/a and after shaving 100 thou of the head has compression around 10 -11 to 1 is what he told me so far i only know what ive been told about the k engine so help is definatly needed and yes i did fail english so don't mind the spelling Quote
KE70+AE92 Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 turboin a 4k is not really worth it 5k is better. don't put the 4k head on! The higher compresson is not good for turboing blow the head of with a bit of boost. I tryed turboin my 4k it was to much effort and not much gain so i just put a v6 in it lol Quote

Click Here. Your english is pretty damn good compared to some of the gronks we get here, you only misspelt definatly, should be definitely. ...don't put the 4k head on! The higher compresson is not good for turboing blow the head of with a bit of boost... This is totally incorrect mate. 4K head will either lower compression (dished piston 5K) or will stay nominally the same (flat piston 5K) and is better suited for a turbo. 1 Quote
Twinky Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 I can second that, I have both heads taken apart. The 4k has a shite load more combustion chamber in the head. Hmmmm, so i have a spare 4k with a spare 5k head.... Grenade motor anyone? 1 Quote
KENut Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 5K = more power potential (1.5 vs 1.3L) 4K easy/cheap to replace if/when it goes bang So maybe build your turbo kit up on the 4K, get used to it, then swap to built 5K? Quote
nissan recovery vehicle Posted October 7, 2010 Author Report Posted October 7, 2010 cheers guys , so if the 4k has more combustion in the head would that be better suited on the 5k with dished pistons when i go to turbo the motor as the compression should be low Quote
GJM85 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 correct. though a 3kb head would be better still. Quote
nissan recovery vehicle Posted October 7, 2010 Author Report Posted October 7, 2010 maybe might look at that oneday but i have what i have at that will do for now but also anyone know where to get a manifold(turbo) got quoted 850 and 950 from two exhaust shops or is that the going rate Quote
GJM85 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 custom made shit man. always costly. Quote
ninja-philbo Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 buy some steem pipe a welder and go for it dude. or j pipe for sure. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) buy some steem pipe a welder and go for it dude. or j pipe for sure. My manifold was over $700 :bash: ...... Can get a J-pipe made for under $100 though. Oh and I didn't notice a whole lot of difference in going from a 4ktc to a 5ktc, little bit more torque maybe. Edited October 8, 2010 by Taz_Rx Quote
ninja-philbo Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 j pipe will do the job man bin done heaps. Quote
