Can u use a 3k one on a worked 5k and how do u reshim the oil pumps

I don't think they're any different.

 

You pull the spring out of the pressure relief valve and put a 2mm washer under it. If you have the pump in front of you, just pull it apart and you'll see what I mean. Very simple piece of gear.

Pretty sure 3k's have a shallower sump, so a 3k pump might sit a bit high above the floor of a 5k sump.

hmm interesting point felix. I do have one of each sump at home I'll compare. But I've got 3 pumps that I swear are identical.

Early K motor pumps also have a detachable oil pick up. There the ones you want when up righting a K motor so you can take it off make a new pick up and off you go :)

 

Also TRD for the K oil pump made a spacer that went between body and pick up and put a T motor oil pump gear in it. Higher flow then so that is an option if your looking at modding it.

On the money there Cam,3k's (not sure if all of them are the same) has a steel pick up that unbolts from the oil pump housing and is the one to use when upriting a K engine.

7k's also have an unbolt-able pick up, almost identical to the 3k.

interesting then because my 3k didn't have one of them I'm certain, I would have noticed a detachable pickup, so it's been changed at some point.
