LittleRedSpirit Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Hi guys, I picked up this car from ebay last week. Its a pretty untidy car but with a weekends cleaning, welding and then paint it will be excellent. Specs are as follows: ADM AE86 chassis. Bigport engine ADM t50 Kaizen pipes Cut and shit manifold AE86 JDM diff with discs and lsd JDM tailshaft RCI fuel cell - 30 litres 2 litre surge tank Carter lift pump VL turbo pump Koni yellow rear shocks cambertops and camber pins Spare smallport with manifolds came with it Couple sets of mags ADM bumpers with a lip Race seat - aluminium bucket with removable liner, very comfy actually. ADM Brakes The seller claimed the diff and motor was rebuilt but yet to be confirmed. he also said the front struts were trd but I havent confirmed this, they are non adjustable is all I know. Came with a Microtech to suit some other car and its wired for it. Has most of the interior minus stock seats and its in a bit of a sorry state. The shell is mod plated to 2 seater capacity already. Not for the engine or diff tho but thats a formality with this setup. Plans: Strip and clean the shell. Rust repair and paint the shell, colour change to peak white 2pak, might even get a kit for it but we will see. Return to a more original state with some normal interior and stock front seats. Rewire to suit stock bigport computer. Sell it once its done and all legal etc. Ditch race fuel system and install a jdm ae86 fuel tank. I'm a fixer not a destroyer, so even though I could make a lot parting it I will be resurrecting it and giving it some love. Quote
mungi mods Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 been there seen that... we can rebuild it .... make it faster, stronger , able to leap tall hills in a single gear  Quote
Trev Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Good work Matt, be good to see the transformation. Quote
Jesseb369 Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 nice nice. Always loved the 86! I like the notchbacks myself. But either one is a piece of history :D Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted September 14, 2010 Author Report Posted September 14, 2010 Yes I prefer the notchback but you gotta take what you can get with ae86s. Its really just to save it and sell it to someone with an appreciation of what a complete and classy car is. Quote
ae824ate Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) Looks like my latest buy, minus all the good parts haha. And mines got more rust. Like the sound of your plans for it too. LittleRedSpirit Posted December 31, 2010 Author Report Posted December 31, 2010 The fuel cell is sold. I still have the surge tank for now. Make an offer if you want when you are ready. Yes indeed there has been a lot done and organised since I last posted. I found someone who was turning their ae86 into a drag car and succeeded in getting everything I need minus the door trims, hatch and bonnet, and seatbelts. I'm tossing up buying a Seibon CF OEM bonnet and hatch combo for it. Its just so annoying to find old steel parts that need fixing and still will set me back $500. Anyhow, more thought is needed there. Heres some pics of the rust. The places where the car was cut down in the rear lower wells has been closed up. There was a little rust in the gaurd. I'm going in today I might have a play with the Mig and see if I can finish it off. I need to grind a seat mount out of another car to weld in, I'm thinking a ke one could do. The person who cut the car up removed one of the threads in the floor pan to fit their alloy seat, which I now need to replace. There's a small amount of rust near the pillar vents that I will look at also. I will have to go and collect my sandblaster from my mate that has it to clean up the under body in the thing. Once its all solid metal again I will wire brush it, grind it to shape then I plan to put a decent layer of an epoxy resin over it. We have this araldite type product at work in tubs that will do a nice job of permanently locking out all the water from the areas that have been taken back to bare metal, as well as coating the fresh welds.
