boofis Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Hey Where does all the extra weight come from between ke3* and KE5*? Just reading through some toyota stuff and made this discovery d'oh! Thanks Troy Quote
kangaroosa Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 This topic has been discussed before, in a broad sense. KE30 and KE55 Differences Quote
hotgemini Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Also by the Qld. DOT LVR KE50 = 883kg KE55 = 920kg Quote
boofis Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) D'oh, my bad guys. Forgot to search, you can close this thread if you want. Thanks Troy P.s. Its illegal to remove the side intrustion bars ey? Edited September 6, 2005 by boofis Quote
ancullen Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I'm considering swapping to KE30 doors on Lola, however take into account that this car is currently for racing use only, so I'll be putting a proper rollcage in in when I start getting serious (ie, get her running). Should I decide to get her registered, I'll be leaving KE55 doors in (or putting them back in). I wouldn't even consider taking them out if the car was for road use. Â And I agree with Nick, I'd almost guarantee that you have to keep the side intrusion bars as the car was ADR'd with them. Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 don't forget the weight differences over here........... Quote
demuire Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I'm currently (and have been sort of for a little while) on the lookout for a drivers (I think it's drivers) side door for my car too, off a KE35 (without side intrusion). They weigh so much less... Quote
boofis Posted September 7, 2005 Author Report Posted September 7, 2005 Too bad if you get t boned in a Ke3* then ey  Thanks lads! Quote
ancullen Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 I'm currently (and have been sort of for a little while) on the lookout for a drivers (I think it's drivers) side door for my car too, off a KE35 (without side intrusion). They weigh so much less... I thought yours was a KE35? If it's KE55 and you're planning only to use the KE35's driver's side door, I'm assuming that you're trying to balance the weight distribution side-to-side to offset driver's weight? Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Thanks, i will now be very wary about being T - BONED in my ke36! Â Funny how the ke36 wagon weighs less than the ke30 sedan??? Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 all american market cars had 'em after '73 Quote
demuire Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 ancullen: yes, mine is a KE35, but one of my doors is off a KE55 (original door was rusted to shit). I recon I'd probably save maybe 10kg just by changing doors back to a KE35 one... Quote
boofis Posted September 9, 2005 Author Report Posted September 9, 2005 Don't tease me..... 10kg! Quote
rjenman Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 losing weight makes a difference, especially with smaller cars that by taking off weight you are removing a higher percentage of the car's total weight than if the car was huge to begin with Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Don't tease me..... 10kg! it would be about that, no shit Quote
