SLOTH Snr Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) Hi guys and girls, hope your having a better time than we are. To start with about two months ago we swapped the perfectly good 4k for what we thought was an even better 7k. On the way home from putting in the 7k the alternator decide to give up. Not to much problem we had a spare. Swapped alts but car was overheating. Next day new thermostat. Still overheating Next day new water pump. Still overheating Next day thermo fan added. Still overheating. Think for two days tried another thermostat No overheating New prob, at mid revs motor chokes down. NO idea. THen clutch gives up along with rear brakes. Fix them and decide to add electric fuel pump for new carbs Fuel pump doesn't work, brand new relay no good. Fuel pump works motor doesn't turn over, remove starter its stuffed. Fit rebuilt starter motor. Engine locks up. And this is where we are. It seems with cooking the motor we probably started the ball rolling but now it seems we have dropped a rod, this is now becoming expensive. To make matters worse 2 weeks ago under pressure from the other half i disposed of our completly perfect 4k. Haven't even started about the probs with the MERCEDES HOWS EVERYBODY ELSE DOING   :P Edited September 6, 2005 by SLOTH Snr Quote

SLOTH Snr Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 Wish i was cruising round the panhandle. It would be a lot less stressfull Quote
kangaroosa Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Things were going great guns for you the other night when we caught up. Then all these problems in a matter of a week or two. Clutch and rear brakes.......sounds like Craig has been doing wheelies  How did you go fitting the fuel pump. No problems routing the fuel line through the floor? So have you snapped a conrod? or Dropped a valve? If the 7K is Cactus - I have a 3K down the back. Its in pieces and the bores have a bit of surface rust on them. All the pieces are there, but it would have to be rebuilt. Its yours if you want it. Quote
SLOTH Snr Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 Thanks for the offer Dazza. I'm sending the car to a mates workshop tomorrow and he will let me know just how serious. Running the fuel line was a breeze after seeing yours. I will have to buy you a beer if we go karting. Had enough of cars sob sob sob sob sob sob sob sob sob sob sob Quote
