Hi Guys.

Just got myself a ke70 and the timing was set to 30degrees adavanced :laff: , so we adjusted it back down to 15degrees and I'm running 98 ron fuel (well 50/50 91/98 blend lol). so what timing should it be set at for optimal performance :rolls:

Going to do the airbox mod tonight also :bash: (cutting top cover down to expose airfilter).

Also the car runs abit rough ive done a major service on it. should i have a play around with the carby's mixtures to try get it running smooth, bit pigish atm. Run some carby cleaner through it maybe??

any help would be great

cheers

neil

15 will probably be high still, on 98 I'd run more like 10. running 15, you will may have too much advance at high revs.

Rough running, give it a set of plugs and leads as well. Carb clean, probably won't do much but worth a shot.

sorry should say when i serviced it.

- New NGK plugs

- Leads modified(not very old, previous owner replaced) so they just don't sort of sit there but actually clip onto top of plugs

- Near new (previous owner replaced) Rota cap.

- New fuel filter

- Engine flush

- New oil filter

- Shell Helix 20w50

- cleaned air filter

Cool. i'll retard the timing down to 10degrees

yeah i tried advancing the timing alot on my old 4k, hardly made any difference. and it just made it run worse. i think stock timing is supposed to be about 8 BTDC.

Yeah 8 is stock. You can let it ping a little without doing too much damage. If you don't have a timing light just advance it a little at a time until it starts to ping then back it off so it doesn't. :rolls:

Just thought id let everyone know. backed off the timing to 10 degrees and modified the stock airbox (so it just covers top and bottom of the filter) + removed most of the vacuum lines (leaving only the dizzy + carby). Car now revs out smoother and is much nicer to drive. car however stalls more (got to adjust the mixture/idle screw) makes nice popping noises down shifting now :D
