Gearbox's

before everyone gets all angry i did try and use the search function but to no avail. now to my question. will a KE20 gearbox fit into a KE70 and visa-verse.

4 speed or 5 speed???

I'm assuming it's a K engine.

Basically the only difference is the shifter position.

its a 4 speed. i am looking at putting a 20 box in my 70 but i thought i had heard they did not fit. so does the shifter come out in a completely different position? or can i still make it work? sorry yes it is just for a 4k

You'll need to cut a new hole in the tunnel, pretty sure the shifter is closer to the front of the car.

..so just swap the rear gearbox housing from your KE70 onto the KE20 gearbox.

There'll be a couple of holes on the bellhousing that won't line up. Not enough to matter though.

Yeah forgot about that. Some early blocks had different bolt spacings - a couple miss out by half a hole. Just leave them out.

KE30/55 shifter pos is a couple of inch further forward than KE70. KE20 is about the same again further forward so a '20 box in a '70 would have the shifter coming though...... :bash: just in front of the heater box!!! :laff:

Yeah i wasnt 100% sure, we have 12 gearboxs at home and 2 are ke20 and i swear they look smaller compared to the others and also shorter lol

How bout the rear mount for the manual boxes, are they all in the same position or do they differ?

save starting a new thread,

 

size wise and shifter location are the T series and W series boxes same length and width, and are the shifters basically in the same spot. just the bellhousing is different?
