KETURBO25 Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) Just picked up this ke70 for cheap a few days ago, the motor in it is good runs really well but its a auto. the body has rust in the boot and around the fuel cap (its pretty bad). the interior is surprisingly clean Not really planning to go too nuts with this car, I'm just gonna lower it and paint it, and mabye some wheels. I bought it from Just Wrecking Toyotas on the cnr of South Tce and South Rd in Wingfield. The guy said it was lucky i called when i did because the car was about 10 minutes away from being completely wrecked, the guys had allready gone out and marked all the parts with a texta which i now have to clean off, lol. KETURBO25 Posted September 4, 2010 Author Report Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) I hate driving autos, so much so that ive decided to convert this one. Ive been told that its fairly easy to do, ive got a K50 5 speed gearbox to go into it and the manual pedal box aswell, so far ive put the pedal box in and I'm getting ready to do the conversion, I'm just waiting to get a heavy duty clutch and the flywheel machined. Pretty sure the only thing I'm gonna need is the manual tailshaft and cross member, But are the 4 speed and 5 speed tailshafts the same? i would imagine they are but I'm not sure, let me know if youve done this before. :lolcry: Changing the pedal box is very awkward and time consuming thing to do (probably the hardest part of the conversion) i used this guide by Rolla Club member 'Altezzaclub' to help locate all the bolt holes and yada yada, and i got it done in about 3 hours. very helpful. http://www.ke70.com/forum/index.php?showto...ed&pid=9479 Edited September 5, 2010 by KETURBO25 Quote
KETURBO25 Posted September 4, 2010 Author Report Posted September 4, 2010 Just thought id throw a few more pics up of the rust in the car, ive never really done body work on a car with rust this bad so its gonna be an 'interesting' result I'm sure. I'm just gonna get some doors that are in better condition then these ones but the rest I'm gonna have to do something about ASAP. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 4 and 5 speed tail shafts are the same. Bit of rust there mate. But find me a rolla without rust. If your gonna do a full re paint it'd probably be easier to find better doors. They don't cost much. Nice car otherwise. Quote

altezzaclub Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 I could ask the local wrecker what he wants for doors if you like, they're usually rust-free out here in the country. Postage might kill it though! Quote

KETURBO25 Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 Yeah i know man your probably right, but the plan is to have this one as my daily and drive the KE25 Turbo on weekends, but I'm sure if i get the paint right and it looks good that could all change. Quote

Still got the front to do but it will be done hopefully in the next hour. (Flat black would be sick-shouldve been a factory colour) Quote

KETURBO25 Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) Hit a bit of a snag trying to get the front struts out of the KE70, so i could only lower the rear today and ill do the rest tomorrow. Ive put some pics up, i didnt want to go too crazy on the rear its just enough to take away that 80's jacked up look. Pretty obvious difference there... Edited September 5, 2010 by KETURBO25 Quote

Ive put some pics up, i didnt want to go too crazy on the rear its just enough to take away that 80's jacked up look. Pretty obvious difference there... It still needs more low man i put low kings into my old slanty front ke71, and cut another coil off them cause they weren't low enough :lolcry: The front struts should come out with the three 12/13mm nuts on top of the strut tower, two 17mm bolts on the bottom of the struts on the steering arm, and I undo the sway bar and castor arm so I can just swing the lca down and out of the way and then undo the brake line, and the strut should have fallen out by now :lolcry: Quote
