Trev Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Has been done, I think it was A J P S that did it. Quote
ae824ate Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 There was a guy a while back that asked the same thing. Ive turbo'd a fwd 4a-c, and ran a nissan n13 injection setup. It was run on carby for a while, but even with the injection setup it turned out to be a bit of a waste of time. More of a novelty really. I ran 5 or 6 psi, and didnt get a big power gain. Not worth wasting your time or money IMO. Good luck. Quote
GJM85 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) I thought they were a much better engine than a 4k? being overhead cam and larger displacement, yes..... the only other pro is that when you pull them out, a 4age fits straight back in there. The K series motor is far easier to work with. Though the power gains aren't as plentiful they offer much education for a beginner. I had a 4a-c in my third corolla, ae71 spririt, rebuilt it when I first got it and it never ran right. Called around and nobody wanted anything to do with it... which is why I call it, a BASTARD! 19914afc Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 there was a kit for sale on ebay a while back, think it may still be up there. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 I thought they were a much better engine than a 4k? Better in a relative sense. Neither engine will set your world on fire without serious amounts of work. Quote

GJM85 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 if your interesting in learning a little.... spend a couple of hundred on a VRS kit. Pull the head off, reseat your valves and port the head yourself. Sounds hard doesn't it. You can also port the intake manifold to suit. I spent $40 on a pnuematic die grinder and $55 on an alloy cutting piece from Trade Tools. Use a manifold gasket as a guide and go for broke.... I did. Buy an adapter plate to suit a 32/36 webber, they're easy to find. The webber will be a bit more expensive unless your lucky....off ebay. Get your extractors and exaust and it'll have poke. You could probably do all of this for less than $1000. It won't beat V8's but when you notice the improvement you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Quote

Hey mate thanks for your input... i would definitely do everything you said on the later part of you reply(exhaust etc), but porting the head and reseating the valves and porting the intake... would probably not feel confident without a bit of on hand advice from someone on the know.
