ScottKE1X Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 (edited) Hey all, This is more of a - I'm very close to doing this, do you think its worth a go? type thread. heres the low down: i've got a ke35 with a 4ac halfway in. done the hydraulic clutch and suspension. a mate has a ca18de VERY good condition, low k's, well maintained. he wants $400 for the motor with full loom and ecu. it also has all manifolds including tuned length extractors. it has no gearbox. You should all know 400 clams is a months pay and I'm tightarse :P Nay or Yay? convince me... Cheers Scott. Edited August 30, 2005 by ROL-110 Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 don't do it. PM me his phone number instead :P seriously tho, i think it's a great idea. it would make the car awesome to drive without being stupidly overpowered, and has alot more potential than a 4a-c. all you'd need is a box and wire it up, and a fuel system and if you ever get sick of it, you could most definitely flog the engine and ecu for that price again, and drop a DET in its' place with a minimum of fuss Quote
ScottKE1X Posted August 30, 2005 Author Report Posted August 30, 2005 yeah cheers Jamie, thats basically the same line of thinking i was following... even if i just parted the engine up id get my money +more back :P i think ill give it a go. nothing wrong with a bit of fun... ill be working full time next year so a det wouldnt be out of my range either. More of a NA man myself tho. scott. Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 More of a NA man myself tho as am i my friend, as am i no shame in winding off the tacho :P who needs boost Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 :rocknroll: :rocknroll: :rocknroll:  :D Awesome man! do it! Be aware of the hidden costs though, radiator, getting gauges to work(or replace), getting tailshaft made, heater plumbing, ect. :D :D :D :D :y: :y: U wont regret it, + it opens so many possibilities, work the tits off it or turbo it........i'll take one of each thanks......and then i wake up........ :P Quote
Tiger Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Ah go for it... And post up pics of the conversion as a tutorial :P Nah, the conversion should be good :rocknroll: Quote
Felix Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 do it. sounds like it will work out a lot cheaper than a 4AGE conversion. Quote
ca18rolla Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Mate this is what i m finishing now to my ke35 coupe. Should be pretty quick i m going to end up with a ca18de+t adding de-compression gasket, manifold and t25g turbo. But wanna see how it goes n/a first though. pretty straight forward fits just need to make custom x-member for g/box and change engine mounts. added: efi f/pump hydrulyic clutch wiring doen (I'm running standard ecu, but have mircotech for det conversion) fuel lines custom tailshaft cut new shifter location (6" further back) new radiator zorst adding up quickly though but will be sick sleeper though need to upgrade diff i think unsure of what i m going to do?? PROJECTROLLA Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 hey man i think u should do it...ive been trying to look up ca18 conversions on here so i can make up my mind what i wanna put in my rolla but most people are doing ca18 conversions and getting good feed back and don't worry man it will crack i had a mate that had a 180sx 1.8 boosted moderly and that thing hammerd!! i think u should go all the way don't look back man I'm sure u'll have problems on the way but its all part of engine conversions and 400 for ur motor thats cheap as man!!
