Forget about doing an 18 rg conversion.

I got a te25 crossmember from Japan for mine. I could just as easily modded the mounts, but whats the point with the real thing available.

Generally you will need to convert your clutch system to a hydraulic. Once again I got a TE27 pedal assy from Japan, but be warned, they don't bolt in. A bit of fabrication required.

You'll need to change the sway bar, as the standard 20 item goes where the sump on a 2tg is.

Change your brakes. You'll need something bigger, particularly if it's going to be engineered.

Uprate the diff. Anyone that says you don't have to is having a lend of themselves, or enjoys the experience of changing them on a regular basis. Mine has a TA22 diff with a TRD slippery and 4.77 gears.

Not an easy conversion, but not super hard if you have some skill.

The only reason I haven't finished it is lack of time and too many other toys.

if you can find a te27 crossmember that will make it all very easy, but they are rare in aus, more common in the states.

hmmm i did no they where hard to come by i was thinking about geting something like a ta22 crossmember and adapting that to suit but will the gearbox slide in ok... and will i need a custom tail sharft?

Get onto something like import monster, they bid on japanese yahoo for you and them send in to you. Thats how I got mine. They're not as hard to come by as you think, as TE20 and TE25's came out with them as well.

The TA22 crossmember is good for the mounts and the right angles, but thats about it. The xmember itself is not really compatable with a 20. I had an ex-hillclimb car with a modded ta22 xmember, and it was that unattractive, I decidd to go with something else.

There should be mounting holes for a t series box about 100mm aft of where your existing xmember bolts to. They should already have the captive nuts there. Run a tap through them to get 40 odd years of accumulated crap out of the threads, and you're good to go.

Tailshaft, I had a custom one made. It's a decent size thingy, as I don't like things breaking.

I am on yahoo all the time. Crossmembers don't come along very often, but if you can wait, eventually one will. Another option is 3TCgarage.com which is a US based forum. There are always US spec TE21's and TE27's being parted out. Do bear in mind that US sourced parts are limited by left hand drive issues, not a problem with crossmembers, but means pedal boxes have to come from Japan. I got a tailshaft from japan too, cheaper than having one made up here.

As above, a TA22 crossmember isn't an option, as the person I bought my KE25 off found out.

I basically have every part needed to put one together now, sourcing parts mainly from Japan and the US, and a few from Europe. Parts are often expensive, as there is a growing market for this stuff.

It doesn't fit. From a quick look at the TA22 crossmember currently keeping the front of my KE25 off the ground, it is too wide. False economy trying to modify around that issue. It would impact on suspension geometry too.

Your better bet is to use the KE crossmember and redo the engine mounts to suit as others have done.

Depends on how handy you are with a welder as to whether it is economic or not.
