allan55 Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 I'm new to the forum as my daughter just brought her first car, an 89 CSX Seca, and I will be doing the maintenance on it. The first of what may be many questions, the car is fitted with a sunroof which the previous owner said had leaked in heavy rain. What is the best approach to dealing with this? Seal and tape the rubber surrounds, remove and fit new seals ?? Any feedback appreciated. Quote
drc_ke20 Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 it could be due to dirt build up around the rubber seal?if not i suggest test it with running water and check where it`s coming from and try to rectify the water leak?if you find it clean around it with a scriber or check for rust around the rubber seal remove sunroof and cure rust, bog it up and paint. parrot Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) Definitely remove and clean the seal. If it is at all perished or split, you may need to find a replacement. You don't say whether it is a factory or aftermarket job. If factory, check that the drain holes from the sunroof area haven't blocked up. Edit: I should add, if it's factory, be very careful with any seals. If you can get them, they will be expensive. Edited August 15, 2010 by parrot Quote
allan55 Posted August 16, 2010 Author Report Posted August 16, 2010 I'm not sure if it is a factory sun roof but I will have a close inspection. Thanks for the advice. Quote
