SLW42 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Everyone is entitled to there own opinions man, IMO mesh Wheels are over rated, everyone has them, yeah they look good on some cars, the ae teks look so much better and something you don't see very often so go with the teks to be different to all the other sheep putting mesh wheels on there car Quote
mungi mods Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 i prefer Longchamps to ae teks and i prefer SSR/Volk mesh to rota mesh JDM over China for me Quote
19914afc Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 got any I can buy for $800? 15x8?? Quote

nickyboy Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 also pretty sure koya are made in japan. nope Quote
Dann_m Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Old school xr4s  but mesh are getting kinda over rated now as justin said, id prefer the look of ae teks over them at this stage, really just depends on the style and theme of ur car to match what you want.. Quote
benzo Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Do you think the Beaurepairs wheels are of no good quality? They look stunning! Oldschool outer and classy inner. I'm a fan haha. Uh, no I don't. How much R&D has been done? And blatantly attempting to copy a classic Japanese wheel? They are also ugly. ye, ive had a look around for some longchamps but most people want over a $1000 for them, and these are only $800 and are brand new. I just sold a set of 14x6.5 +/-0 for $650 with good tyres. By the time your buy tyres for your cheap fake Chinese wheels you'll be looking at $1.2k (at the very least). Could easily get a set of genuine 15x7.5J or even 8J with good tyres for that price. People want everything, right now and just buy the cheaper inferior product... Quote
19914afc Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 got some tyres with 80% tread off another car that someone from work bought and sold just the old wheels, got the for $80 so all up it would be $880 inc tyres  but ive been looking around for some 15/16x7/8 jap wheels and can't find much in Brisbane and no one wants to post. What do people think of rota wheels??? Quote
19914afc Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 or even 14x7/8 wheels would be alright. ill have a look around for some jap wheels. Quote
Sloth Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 What do people think of rota wheels??? I was originally looking at putting a set of 16 inch Rotas on my AE86. I know nothing about the quality of the wheels etc, so I was just going to put them on cause they were going to be cheapish and looked good. Like people have said, at the end of the day it just comes down to what you like (as long as what you are putting on there isn't such bad quality it falls apart or is broken). Quote
19914afc Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) ye, well I like the old school look of these wheels - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/16-ROTA-FLASHBACK-D...=item19b8d19931 but would rather 15's. Edited August 11, 2010 by 19914afc Quote
19914afc Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 well if all these people keep saying these wheels are crap could you try to help me find some proper jap wheels locally (brisbane) because I have been looking all over the forums (except toymods cause I don't have an account) but I have about $1500 to spend, don't need tyres (if 15") and my preffered sizes are, 14/15 by 7/8 or larger in an offset to suit the same as a ke70 I would assume as my car is similar. bLinded_ Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 This is slightly OT, but anyway: Can anyone comment on the strength and quality of a 20year old 'Jap' rim compared to that of a new 'inferior' wheel? Not trying to start a shitfight, but more so out of my interest as I hear ALOT of people always say that the 'Jap' rim is stronger and such. Just wondering how a 20 year old rim after all the stresses of driving over that time would compare to a new Rota or the likes. And back on topic now: I saw go with what ever wheels you are happy with, as modifying a car should be about pleasing yourself, not everyone else. I like meshies, so I got some, also as they were a great price. But, ultimately I have always loved Watanabes more, so with alot of patience and looking on Yahoo Japan, got some for about the same you would pay for cheap 'copy' wheels. ETTO ! Quote
