Andy43 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Ok I'll admit never broke a piston, But have chucked a few rods. Got a 3k engine on unknown origin. Piston tops look brand new. However two skirts have massive cracks, I'm guessing Heat seized but not sure ? Quote
Evan G Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 same problem with my 4k, lucky the pistons worn out and not made a huge mark in the bore I'm guessin there repco pistons? Quote
Andy43 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 same problem with my 4k, lucky the pistons worn out and not made a huge mark in the bore I'm guessin there repco pistons? The bores sizes up almost brand new all less than 75.05 as does the crank, around 41.996 and 44.994 If my memory serves correct. The pistons have the toyota symbol inside, very minor vertical score in both bores, Hone should fix. Cheers Andy Quote
jono1986 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 One of my pistons had a fair crack in it to, no marks to the bores and the engine ran fine, maybe it's age. Quote
Evan G Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 i wanna see a set of these rods spin 8000rpm on a daily basis ;) Quote
