Hey all, just bought this KE55 coupe last weekend.

It's a 4K 3spd auto

Plans are so far

 

Set of 13' jellybeans

fresh paint

repair what little rust is has

5k and 5spd conversion

lower it a little

BTW does anyone know where i can get new windscreen chrome and new gutter moulds for this ?? :dance: cheers

Hey Mate,

 

Nice starting plans, Jelly beans are cool!. I got my windsreen kit off E-bay in a 5 piece kit with both doors, widscreens and boot rubbers, for $199 shipped. Ebay link I'm prety sure all the rubbers are the same (KE35-55) apart from the boot rubber? (correct me if I'm wrong). Failing that Rarespares have the widsreen by itself for like $115 Rarespares . They also have the same kit i got for $895!!! prob same product too!. It only took 10 days for my kit to arrive from Tailand or wherever

 

..edit... misread, Rarespares have the chrome moulding for like $23.10 each. I'm keen for a couple of these too, as mine has none :dance: in the front and the window flexes! and wants to pop out when windows are down!

Update time... ive bought a 5k engine and 5speed gearbox, should be in my hands at the end of next week :P Also picked up a manual pedal box and clutch cable from the local wreckers.

Good news was, after pulling the guards off and other panels i found the rust isnt as bad as once thought, BIG bonus. Planning to pull out the engine and gearbox next weekend and put in the new pedal box :D

 

Today's work - just stripped off bumpers, boot, bonnet guards and doors.

Thanks KDog, that should help me out big time... off to do some more work on her today, might get started on chopping out the rust :P

Picking up some new wheels tomorrow, will put some pics up when I get em. They're 15x6's. Also borrowing an engine crane from a dude at work yeww.

Pics of the new wheels.

They are 15x6 copies of VL walkinshaw commodore wheels - the dude i bought them off had them powder coated afew years ago and hasnt had any tyres fitted to them. Hopefully they'll be worth the buck.. i am thinking i might paint them but we shall see... It's a pretty risky move to see if they'll suit the ke55 coupe but i'm sure they'll look great/fit ok.

They came with silver centre caps and 40mm bolt on spacers.

Just a little update from the weekend's work... only managed to get a couple of hours in on saurday.. stripped the engine of hoses and lines that may get in the way.

Hoping to have the engine out and engine bay completely stripped for paint at the end of this long weekend coming up

Looking forward to cleaning up the engine bay, and getting down a fresh coat of CT black. Will be updating soon!

Update, got the pedal box in on saturday and began scotching the engine bay for paint. Wish I could have a week solid on this thing to get it sorted!

Also, does anyone have pics of what the clutch cable setup looks like one the box (how it attaches) and on the pedal box. It seems i'm missing some parts, like a bracket to hold the cable near the clutch lever?
