4k-5k Fuel Pump

Just a quick question...

 

I'm rebuilding a 5K but only have a fuel pump off a 4K.

 

Will a 4K fuel pump work on a 5K?

That's a relief!

 

I was unsure, so figured I should find out first. The engine itself is with a mate and it's a LONG drive away, so I did'nt want to get stuck and not have the right parts.

Just make sure you take the spacer plate that goes between the block and fuel pump with you. Otherwise you will break the arm on the pump in no time!

or more likely tear the diaphragm and fill your sump with petrol.

The spacer plate is the plastic bit with a gasket on either side?

 

The one from the 4K fuel pump actually came off in several pieces, I guess they're prone to breaking. I've ordered a full gasket set for the 5K engine, so maybe another spacer plate is included?

You can buy just the spacer plate and two gaskets for under 10 bucks!

a parts listed 5k fuel pump is much different to a 4k fuel pump when compared side by side.

 

a 4k fuel pump does fit.

 

anyone know if a 3k fuel pump is do the trick on a standard 5k?

I'm running the pump off my 3K on my 5K and that's feeding the Dellorto's with no problem.

The part number for the spacer is Fuelmiser fpi-256, Bursons don't stock them but Repco do.

You get 1xspacer 2xgasket.
