Jono.C Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Anyone done a front setup in a ke30? Like a cheaper option then coilover kits andwhat not. Corona or ke70 struts, stiff springs, and lca 60mm longer or there abouts. Am I on the right track,? What on earth do you need 60mm longer lca's for? 20mm maybe.. Weld the diff. Stiffen the leafs or turn them over if it's a track only car. Shorten your steering arms or get someone to do it for you. Not sure if ke30's have lock stops or not.. Quote
ke70dave Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) i think there is alot of emphasis on buying stuff to make your car drift. Best of getting out there and practising. in the words of a famous dodgeball coach: 'if you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a dodgeball' (disclaimer: there = on a track, dodge = drift, wrench = combi van, dodgeball = drift car) Edited May 25, 2012 by ke70dave Quote
irokin Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Best off getting out there and practising. "There" being a track, obviously. Quote
JSF Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 "There" being a track, obviously. Or a rally road... which would of course be made on private land and with the owners consent of course, :rolls: . Quote
ke666 Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 I'm not worrying about learning to drift I just wana set it up stiffer. We have a rally ke30 and contlstantly 3rd gear flat lock to lock fishys is good practice haha. Even more fun when the 2 rear tyres are shredded. Quote

It's_AUDM_Yo Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) Revive mofo's! I'm getting a wheel alignment this week these are the specs I'm thinking.: +2mm toe out overal (1mm per side) -3.5 camber or there abouts essential just even up what I have now. Max positive caster? Is that correct Any issues with that or recommendations. EDIT: oh the cars a KE70 if you didn't know Edited November 18, 2012 by It's_AUDM_Yo Quote
Willis Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 I was running -2.5 degrees camber and 1mm toe out each side. Skidded fine. I reckon start low on everything and if you think you need more then go for another alignment.a No clue on castor. Running the 86 tops so more negative castor? haha I think if you're going to daily it, the toe out might not be too nice on your tyres. Quote
ke70dave Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 yeah those numbers are quite extreme... id start with: -zero toe -around 4 to 5 deg + castor -1.5 deg camber. Thats a fair amount of castor so will give you heaps of camber when you turn the wheel anyway. Too much castor makes the car UBER twitchy at high speed, and too much camber gives you less grip in a straight line especially in the wet! Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 I'll go easier on the toe and caster. Apparently the max caster you can get with the stock units is about 3-3.5 so I won't really have that much. I can't really have any less camber if you look at photos I have ~2inches of tyre in the guard Quote
Willis Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 My car performed well mid corner with the settings I mentioned above. But I had never driven it with all that gear in it before so it was hard to notice anything different other than the stiffness. If you can I reckon get the camber down as much as possible. Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Yeah I'm aiming to get the camber down, hopefully a bit more castor will help the scrubbing near lock. But yeah I'm sure it will take a few different setups before I decide what I like. Just want to get it pretty reasonable to start with. Next set of front tyres will be 55s and that should pretty much stop all the rubbing. Quote
Willis Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Niiiice. I'm keen for a cruise soon. Should have the white car on the road within a few weeks so I'm going to try and get a few cars/people to go for a drive with. Quote
