GJM85 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 I wouldn't have a clue. I never took note, of all the times i've pulled the ʞ©$ɟer out. Has red around the outer part. Can't see much more than that. Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Is the back cover of it rounded around the edge or is it pretty squared off? Quote
GJM85 Posted December 17, 2011 Author Report Posted December 17, 2011 Stereo is all finished plus a fire extinguisher. Got an accelerator pedal now too! Clean windows, carpet and car. Still need an alternator. Are they esay enough to rebush yourself? Quote
GJM85 Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 road worthy tomorrow...... :hmm: Hoping for the best. Quote
GJM85 Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 No dice. They want a mod plate for the lowering blocks and theres spot of rust in the chassis that needs to be plated. Quote
JJT036 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 This car looks grouse Gavin. :y: That's no good about the RWC. Just whip the blocks out and sort out the chassis with a Welder. Josh  Quote
GJM85 Posted December 23, 2011 Author Report Posted December 23, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the kind words mate! Not sure how i'm going to handle this just yet. The lowering blocks staying for now. But the chassis has been organised for next week. The dude was an uber tight arse. Had a winge about the structural work that had been done before I got the car. Had a winge about my home made exaust, The little pod thing on the rocker cover that "should run to the air cleaner". It is a ʞ©$ɟing air cleaner! Didn't like the 5k because its not a standard replacement engine or equivelant replacement. Apparently if I put the 4k back in, with which it was originally registered with, it would still need to be engineered. It's a good thing he didn't charge me. Edited December 23, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
Evan G Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 take it to another mechanic :y: 1 Quote
_FNQ_rolla_ Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 I agree with Evan, take it to another roadworthy inspection / mechanic. Keep up the great work. Quote
GJM85 Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) Just did a little tune up and took it for a blat round the street. Man its noice to drive. Just pulls along nicely from a stand still too about 4 grand. The tacho stops working there so I don't give it anymore. Either need to source a MSD tach adapter or lose it all together. Half my street is a real steep hill but in 3rd gear, not a problem. I found the standard valve clearances of .20mm & .25mm as recommended in the gregories manual is a bit slack and noisey. .12mm & .15mm sounds perfect. The plugs appear to be perfect. So i'm very happy with the a/f mixture. 125 pri & 162 sec, 79 idle. Timings at a neat 10 degrees. I'm a little concerned about the Streetfire Ignition. I might take it out and try the electronic dizzy again. But I do like the old 3k dizzy. It's not really about perfomance anymore. It's about the drive and a part from the home made exaust, its a ʞ©$ɟin nice 'n' easy one. Edited January 11, 2012 by GJM85 Quote
GJM85 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Report Posted February 26, 2012 It's been a while. Not much has happened. I'm kind of sick of seeing this thing sitting in the garage gathering dust. I took the streetfire box thing out today. No sense in it being there. Had to reset the timing and idle speed. Doesn't run much different, maybe better, other than the flat spot between gear changes. Could be the exaust leak. Pops like crazy on over run. I've got another brake switch because the last one I got ʞ©$ɟed out rather quickly and I lost my brake lights. That little ʞ©$ɟer is harder to change than the starter motor. Anyway no plans to get this thing on the road yet. I'm poorer than a snail without a shell. Quote
SLW42 Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 it's so close to hitting the street gav don't give up yet :) Quote
GJM85 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Report Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Brother got this on Friday. 91' Cressida Grande. Other brother got this today. 86' 4 Runner Turbo Diesel. Combined they spent 3400$. Jealous? Yes! But I still got this... Edited March 10, 2012 by GJM85 Quote
Crostek Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Today I decided to take the sidedrafts off and see what the go it. I hate the lack of room around that damn manifold, as it took me over an hour to get the carbies and the manifold undone with my big fumbling mits. Once they were off I held them level and twisted open the throttle to see how much fuel they were squirting. Cylinder 1 - moderate, 2 - heaps, 3 - nothing, 4 - nothing.... no wonder it was running like dogs balls on chop day. Had this problem today with my 5K, pulled the fuel line fittings off and found a heap of rust had come through the fuel filter and was blocking the screen on the fitting on top of my solex's.
