Hi everyone,

 

I'm currently rebuilding a 5K and have a standard twin carb set up, but think fuel injection would give better performance. Does anybody know where I can find an EFI set up for it?

I do know how to work the search function, and have read all the articles before. Guess I just overlooked building my own EFI system.

 

Reckon I'll go to the EFI Hardware site and take it from there.

If you can weld and good with metal fabrication you could make your own system, get valves and stuff from a scrap yard. Am thinking of doing it myself, with my own ecu and stuff. Just have to wait for the programming part of my degree.

Been thinking of modifying an aisan "k" carb into something like this

Injected carbies

Either that or a set of quads or twins from a motorbike.

And then you need an ecu that's intended for the capacity of the motor, i think toyota starlet's are a small enough motor, thats the easiest and cheapest way.

yeah but it will never run properly as its not designed to run on a k motor.

 

just buy a megasquirt!

 

400 bucks for an ecu that has the same features as an ecu in the $1500+ price bracket.

 

be prepared to read, alot.

and either find a laptop with a serial port, or get one of those serial-usb converters off ebay.

it does turn into an expensive procedure though, but you are getting pretty good stuff.

 

~280 MS2, ~230 wideband, figure something out for the dizzy (unsure if the electronic k motor dizzy will work), youll need a few sensors (air temp, water temp). figure out what to do about a TPS. so not much change from say 700AUD.

 

then whatever you need to get a k motor EFI intake manifold (either make one, or buy an expensive OEM one that fits).

 

worth it on a stock 5k? i say hell no:P
