hey guys, i alwyas been a ke70 man, but i need a cheap reliable car for work, with a bit more room than a ke70. I'm looking at an st141 granny spec, and i was wondering what people have thought about this model, is it reliable, cheap to run, what things to look out for, common problems. its an auto with the 2s engine. any info people have got would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Apart from the internal coils in the dizzy that f@$k out, an inherently leaky motor, noisy gearbox's and even nosier Diff's complements of Borg-Warner and Co', the things are a bloody good car. Ive had a few friends with them, the things that we did to these cars, the places we took them & the total lack of servicing they received was genuinely impressive to see how much they would endure.

At one point, we had a corona on the beach up at double island point (QLD), doing drifting on the sand at 80. Needless to say the Diff was.. CIG locked & it had about 1M of exhaust from the manifold, and no air cleaner (lol)..

or the time we took it to the pine forest & tried to see how far someone could jump the corona.

Or the time a silly friend thought it would be amusing to take the car for a rally drive on a mates property after having 10 to many beers & hit a tree at 50 odd. hahah. Cut the seatbelts out of the back of it, straped them around the bent front & to an even larger tree, and... reverse panel beat the car out into.. some form of shape. As the corona badge went for 6, we chopped up an RC sticker to spell "RoNa" to cover the damage. it covered about 3% of the destroyed bonnet.

Or the time we took it to _______, and went mud bashing chasing little hopping furry animals wilst watching ships port the docks. Bahahahahah. oh dear. That car was side ways more times than ive had hotmeals in my life.

Or the time we lost 2nd gear after a few Corona Shits ( Clutch in to floor, foot moves right). And then found it again by using fence wire from a farmers property to re-afix the gearstick into the box.

+1 Vote for Corona. Amazingly reliable, Cheap, Thrash Happy Car.

+ 1 for the Corona!

Thanks Teddy for mentioning half of the stuff I did in mine!

My one was epic! And I fed it its own A$$ EVERY day I had it!

Awesome first car because of price, parts and care factor Zero!

Will take a way bigger motor as well!

Don't expect it to handle that well though especially if you weld the diff!
