oh okay ill have to be quick if i want one what about a 2tc are they any good?

Alot more work involved upgrading from a 3/4k to a 2tc, 2tc is a little bigger than 5k and are twincam, not sure if it's worth it. Someone else will be more helpful...

i thought about that idea but been told 5k's don't have a very good bottom end and a even worse top end now i don't know exactly if this is true as this is my first rolla build if anyone can shed light on this situation the would be great

haha. Where did you hear that bullshit?

The K50 box is the 5 speed. The K40 is the 4 speed. There are 2 different types of K50 box, the major difference being the location of the gearshifter. Apart from that it's a straightforward swap. You will probably have to change your front universal to suit the 5 speed, especially if you start with an automatic.

K50 boxes came in the KE70 and KE55 model corollas. The KE55 model has the shifter further towards the front and is probably the better choice for your KE10. These KE55 5 speed boxes are harder to find though.

There are plenty of 5K's out there. Expect to pay 400-500 bucks for a running one. Look for KM36 liteaces, you can pick them up for 500 bucks with a 5K, some are 4K though so choose wisely.

The 4K auto box will fit your 4K.

Edit: Just re-read. Though you were trying to sell a K50 for $800. :)

so i thought about it and i want something atleast 1.8ltr no less so what size is a 5k? i've some as 1.6 to 1.:jamie: how do you tell the difference? what id really like is 1uz-fe in there but would be tricky i think. thanks for the info guys

If you want to be able to drive this on the road you don't want anything bigger than 1.6lt (4AGE). If you can track down a 7K that's a 1.8lt, but a lot less power than the 4age.

I would love to see you drop a 1UZ in there... would be great in a straight line, no turning corners for you! :jamie:

oh okay well yeah its a street driven car well will be. 7ks are they injected motor or carb? yeah i just relised that after reading a few things in the engine conversion bit and they putting them in ke70's lot less room in a ke10

You'll get a 7K into a ke10. Gavclassic has an uprighted 7K with twin webers in a KE15.

There's a few 4AGE powered 10's getting around.

1UZFE will be a serious engineering project.
