Sam_Q Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 (edited) wow nice paint, is that Candy green? now engines, how much can you do yourself? and are you a purist or can you settle with any make of engine other than Toyota? Edited July 10, 2010 by Sam_Q Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 Isn't that an east/west engine?? So you would have the hassles of turning it 90deg? How about the 3SGE from an Altezza, already north/south and will almost drop straight in.... get the whole engine & 6speed as a package. Quote
Sam_Q Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 well it's not that simple.. Beams engine info in this thread: http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/s...to-AE-KE-thread Quote
beerhead Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 3SGTE needs custom, intake, turbo manifold, sump and electronics, they never came out as a RWD motor. Some fit oil drains in the head, some don't. I've lowered the height of the center drain in my head on a 3SGE, hopefully that'll help the cause along side of an oversize sump. An AWD/FWD 3SGE/ 3SGTE to RWD is not a conversion for the faint hearted, as the other guys have said the beams 3SGE IS200 motor is the way to go, 150kw atmo, use 3SGTE forged rods and pistons and a nice size turbo and it'll make more power than you need. It's a superior motor over an SR20DET, but bang for buck its a hard call. Quote

e70van Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 How much power do you want? what do you use the car for? street, circuit racing, drag, drift? how much can you afford to spend? There are plenty of options. just to name a few common ones: non turbo - 4age (16v and 20v), worked 5 or 7k, sr20de turbo or supercharged - sr20det, 4agze, 3tgte, 5 or 7k turbos or supercharged. All depends on your budget and goals. :) Quote

altezzaclub Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 That's probably the best bang for buck if the motor is good, and cheap. Being old it might need a complete rebuild. A couple of guys in Altezzaclub use the Beams 3SGE in other cars, AE86 or Celicas or KE70.. The 8000rpm straight out of the factory is quite an attaction... :rolls: Quote
ninja-philbo Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 id love a beams plus turbo in my 36 pano but wont be doin that for awhile Quote
