nrg20v Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 just thought i would ask anyone if they have or know someone who has fitted a lightened flywheel to a 4AGE 20 valve. My 20v is in desparate need of a new clutch and before i fit the new excedy HD clutch kit, i thought i might look in to fitting a Lightend flywheel at the same time. do the 20v's like a lighter flywheel? or does all drivability go out the door? I have had a quick look on the net what people have been putting in there toyota's, these are, TRD=TOMS, TODA, TILTON, QUATERMASTER and FIDANZA. Which one would be the best 4 price and quality? Also where is the best place to buy it? If any one could help me that would be great.

Super Jamie Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 i beg to differ. the engine is going to make the same amount of torque no matter what. a lightened flywheel presents less inertial mass to resist the engine revving as you accelerate, so it revs quicker. a lightened flywheel also stores less kinetic energy, so you may have to plant your foot a tiny little bit more as you go up a hill having driven a torquey 4k with a lightened flywheel which could climb most hills in 5th, and knowing a 4a is a bigger more torquey engine, i'd say it's a non-issue in a light car like a corolla. i heartily endorse this event or product as for brand, who cares? get whatever's cheapest and available to you they'll all do the same thing, and if you're precise enough to be able to pick a few hundred grams between aftermarket flywheels, then get a custom one made to your exacting standards
