Nostalgia Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Haha yes that may be so, but I don't want to have to watch in horror!! I heard somewhere that the Japanese never let the cars on their roads get old, apparently they crush them when they get to a certain age to make room for more cars.. Imagine how many ke1Xs etc I don't see how anything before the ke55 can be considered bland.. But anyway! Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Sounds like it may be a good challenge, but why a 25! I'm thinking a similar situation to the Morris(?) Mariner is dawning. Remember when the Mariner fan club society or something complained, so BBC got a fully overrated one and dropped a piano on it!! HAHA classic, but I hope they don't start crushing rollas :P The Morris Marina is almost universally despised though and widely recognised as one of the worst cars of all time. The Corolla isn't, even it's critics agree that it is good, just boring. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I'm pretty sure the whole dropping a piano on a marina thing is from and old movie. Hopefully one of the old(er) farts here can tell us what movie? Quote
Raven Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 A few customers at work are hanging out to see what happens to the poor KE25. Quote
son of stig Posted July 16, 2010 Author Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) I heard somewhere that the Japanese never let the cars on their roads get old, apparently they crush them when they get to a certain age to make room for more cars.. Or just ship them to Australia or NZ! can't really talk from experience but ive been told that when a car is a few years old in japan the inspections begin to become more hassle compared to just getting a new car. It does amaze me though how many of the early 1990's RAWS imports still come in with so few kms.. then again i suppose they don't drive anywhere near as much in the cities, too damn busy and public transport is actually usable! 13BT_KE20 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Haha this is awesome, this car already has a long history. What a way to finish it! At the end of the day most of the previous owners will admit it "needed work" and its just a corolla. Memories are more important than possessions.... It does amaze me though how many of the early 1990's RAWS imports still come in with so few kms.. then again i suppose they don't drive anywhere near as much in the cities, too damn busy and public transport is actually usable! A mate of mine just bought a R32 GTR completely stock except a WIDE body kit, only has 32 000K's :) Quote
Raven Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 Yeah, you can say that , but don't the majority of the corollas on here "need work". What if it were your KE20 with the Rotary slapped in it? :) Quote
Gspec Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 I hope they re-sell it after they've done with it. Being mindfull it is a Corolla ie will run under water, so unless they drive it directly into a tree, it should do alright. :) Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 unless they drive it directly into a tree Technically it should survive that too :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 Haha this is awesome, this car already has a long history. What a way to finish it! I also found out a while back it got stolen whilst in melbourne years ago. Colourful history too! Quote
Tally Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 I'm keen to buy it once they have finished with it... that said prob will be totaled in true top gear style lol Quote
Teddy Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 hahaha How did topgear contact the owner of the car in the first place? Quote
19914afc Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 probably saw it on rolla club :) maybe they will mention us? Quote
