7shades Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 From this, I can already detect the faint aroma of epic failure. Quote
son of stig Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 Yes i do hope its not too cringe-worthy.. the corolla will definately be familiar to a few members of Rollaclub tho! Quote
marksKE25 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 I think I smell the flogging of a dead horse here..... Quote
Andy43 Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 My son says one of the Kids at schools old man was offered 5,000 from top gear for his overrated Ke55 so they could trash it, He told them to jam it. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 :( They could have at least trashed a KE70 instead of a '20! Quote
7shades Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 If this series ends up making me despise Shane Jacobson, I'm going to be rather peeved. Kenny is an awesome movie :( Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 If this series ends up making me despise Shane Jacobson, I'm going to be rather peeved. Kenny is an awesome movie :( Couldn't agree more. I understand there is a Top Gear "format" but just replacing Clarkson, Hammond and May and doing the same stuff, I may as well watch the British one. Hell there are enough repeats on at the moment. Maybe instead of swinging off their coat tails they could have tried a truly Australian version. Quote
son of stig Posted July 13, 2010 Author Report Posted July 13, 2010 :( They could have at least trashed a KE70 instead of a '20! Its a 70's challenge so that may not have worked. I think theres definate potential for an Aussie version, but it will take a long time to live up to the already established british version. I agree that the hosts shouldnt be based on the british ones. The british trio have a certain chemistry, but they have also been around long enough for people to know what to expect in terms of humour.. They are so established in their characteristics that they don't have to do much to be funny.. people expect it. The first couple of aussie trios have been largely unknown to the public, which makes it quite difficult to be on side with them and recognise their style of humour straight away. And this is definately difficult because they are trying to mimic the brits, which realistically is near impossible. That said, i think theyve had some great ideas on the aussie version, they just need to find the right hosts and not be afraid to stray away from the british format. Quote
Jason Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I wonder if we bitch enough about how they screwed up a ke20 they will mention rollaclub on the show :( Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I wonder if we bitch enough about how they screwed up a ke20 they will mention rollaclub on the show :D They'd probably just say "whats your problem? Jeremy has already stated that corollas don't have souls!" :( Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Its a 70's challenge so that may not have worked. Could have used a beat-up KE55 then, they were around in '79. And were ugly too, so no-one will miss them (round lights with massive chrome monobrow doesn't work in my books) Quote
Evan G Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 :( They could have at least trashed a KE70 instead of a '20! they all were on bump stops and locked diffs therefore couldnt get over the first speed hump outta top gear Quote
