greenmac80 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 i got mine made up from a friend at it was $50. a trimmer quoted me $100 for a ke30 roof. Quote
Chief Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I did mine myself in a shitty commodore and i spent about 50 bucks on materials....... It sagged to the shithouse wont be doing that again any time soon haha but a second hand price on one depends on who you go to if your close i may have one spare in a few days but it seems like the trimmer price its pretty solid on 100 bucks thats what i got quoted for the commodore one too. ecoimpact Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks fellas Its off a KE70. Do you need to take your front and rear windows out to remove and install a headlining? Cheers Jesse Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 I know you asked for a price without fitting, but when I got the headlining done in the AE102 I just took it to an auto upholsterers that specialised in roof linings, they removed the old lining and board from the car, stripped the old glue and insulation, cleaned the board, glued and fitted a new headlining in a matching colour/pattern, and reinstalled it, all within about 45 minutes, whilst I stood there chatting to one of the installers who just happened to be an old acquaintance from primary school. Drive in, drive out in under an hour for $200, and I couldn't be more happy with the results. Quote
greenmac80 Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 bit more exxy with a rolla methinks as you need to remove the front and rear windscreens to get em out Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 would have to have a look but you may be able to get away without removing the screens... depends on how the rubbers are setup. I would charge about $250 for one of these, they are a fair bit more work than the later rollas with the board in the roof, they are waaaay to easy... the earlier ones with bowes in the roof (the steel bars) have to be stitched together out of seperate pieces of material... expect to loose the car for most of the day for this. You might be able to ebay yourself a new lining and get it fitted? they usually arent to bad for the price, or have fun and fit it yourself... I could pm you through it lol JP Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Ellas DX ksev has a solid type headliner. Its pretty sweet. Dunno if its original though. I'm glad this was brought up. Its the only interior mod I can't (be bothered) to tackle. Kinda sucks when its all black apart from a beige roof. Thought about gluing vinyl to the one in there but too much effort and fiddling. jaygore Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 for my ke20 it cost me 500 to get a new roof lining put in :) so expensive Quote
ecoimpact Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 for my ke20 it cost me 500 to get a new roof lining put in :) so expensive Sounds like they took you for a ride in a limousine? Quote
ecoimpact Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 To be honest, mainly I just was just thinking of taking mine out without wrecking it so I could sell it the headlining, but know its made me think of other things like: Whether its worth the trouble of saving the headlining? :) How to get the windows out??? :S :) Quote
Tally Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Just got mine done for my KE25, very similar to KE20, cost me 200 for an exact copy in black vinyl. That didn't include installation as I'm installing it myself. Ill post pics when its in... Quote
parrot Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Out of interest Tally, I presume you had to take in your original? Or do they have some sort of pattern book. Quote
Tally Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Yea took out my original one and took it in. It was white with small dots all over it but I wasn't fussy to get the same pattern, just got that plain black motorbike seat texture vinyl. I'm sure most high end trimmers may have a pattern book, this guy was a professional but just had a million rolls of fabric and showed me some nice textures... He unpicked/cut up the old one so got it back in pieces but all good... Quote
