although as part of a settlement they can still get it. regardless on who's name it is under. anything purchased whilst in a de facto or married relationship. it is legally classed as joint ownership. and another surprising thing is if you have money before you get to together and whilst together use it to make a profit or begin a business or the like that is then classed as joint. so all things must be divided """equally""""

I can tell you know that the rules are not 50 - 50.

I've heard super can be up for grabs too if one of the couple was a stay-at-home parent while the other worked.

yep anything is up for grabs and its not always 50-50 gets even uglier when kids are involved they can get more if their lawyers feel like it so super house cars anything that u had together before they left is all in the mix and they can leave with the kids very freely but if the guys try it the cops are up ur ass that fast its not funny :D my ex worked stashed money before she left and all and is refusing to let me see my daughter at all so far its cost me 6 grand trying to fight it so my rolla has taken a big back seat at the moment ;)

The moral of this story to me seems to be: Stay unattached! Okay it can be a lonely way to go through life but at least you get to keep your shit you busted your arse for & spent so much money/time on. Put lots of time & money into a relationship & you don't get to keep squat when it all goes to hell.
