The supplementary is: Google. One google with the words KE30 + SR20 gave me a list of directly applicable websites. I do not believe you couldn't find any information. Quote

xmoht Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) sorry i just thought aswell about enginering will it be able 2 be enginerred wif the sr20 moter in it and what other mods would need to be done to get it enginered Seriously read the other build threads. There are even multiple threads about this exact same thing on this forum. Search is top left hand corner. You can get just about anything engineered, so yes. Other mods? Is your car roadworthy now? New brakes, suspension, steering, differential etc. "What brakes are good for this setup?". Don't ask that, read the build threads. EDIT: Read this. Edited June 28, 2010 by xmoht Quote
JDM55 Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Hay mate if you have a search on here there are several rolla owners who have done this conversion ,theres alot of usefull pictures and info in the forums also,if you ask nicely you may even get advice from others who have done it all ready, the sr20 fits a little tite in places but can be made to fit with out tooo much chopping, I'm in the process of doing the sr20 in to a 55,some general advice for you to think about tho,,,,, first your going to need alot of patients and time ,this sort of thing dosent happen over nite, next lay out a large budget any where from 4000 up to 15000 depending on how far you want to take it,remember its not just hay lets slap a turbo it that would be sickkkkk, you also have to upgrade your suspention and braking systems, a new gear box must be fitted to take the new engine and off corse theres the diff that will most definatley have to be changed, new exhuast system as the old pee shoot wont work anymore and a whole new fuel system, lines pumps surge tanks etc etc etc etc, have some good understanding and know how to use all kinds of tools ,depending on where your from be prepared to have your balls broken by engineers, that is if your going to do it legal of corse, do your research!!!,jump on google and spend the next few months going thru forums and sites and emailing people about this and that and arm your self with what you need to know before jumping in, unless your a die hard rolla fan i would advice you just to spend your money on a 180sx then you can drive the same engine and all the works done for you but if your realy keen then do your home work and plan it out properly , being orginised is very important if you want things to go as smooth as possible, well thats just my thoughts on it I'm sure other members here will tell you to go for gold, then again they mite have not taken on this conversion them selfs, good luck with it if you decide to take it on,feel free to pm if you have any questions more than happy to give you advice thru my experience, others may not be so willing to share there secrets  Quote
Redwarf Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) Gday, and welcome to rollaclub. A couple of handy hints for you so that your time here will be well spent. The main one is make your posts readable to anyone over the age of 25. SMS speak is a pain to anyone not used to it, and as older people are more likely to have the answers you seek, you're excluding a large slab of experience when you do so. Spelling and punctuation are your friends. The other one is search and you shall seek. Many topics have been covered before. The rides and projects threads are a wealth of knowledge, and if it's not covered somewhere in there, then it probably can't be done. Try putting more info into you post. We can make many different suggestions, but if you only have $300, not many of them will be practical. You have to keep in mind that we get asked very opened ended questions like yours about once a day at the moment, so if you don't have a think about the questions you ask, you're not going to get answers you're happy with. Spelling and punctuation are your friends. are you saying people under the age of 25 should be able to read it? well I'm only 22 and i can't read half of them:P to the OP (and others that refuse to type correctly), the amount of effort that you have put into YOUR post will directly incfluince the amount of effort I'm going to put into MY post. if i c obvius nd stupid spelling mistakes dat sho dat u hav put know efort nto ur posts den y shld i try nd dcifer whot u r tryng 2 ask us? nd y shld i try my best to answer u? shur sum wuld say dat i shld just do et 2 keep the community goin, butt der cums 2 a point wher i just can't b stuffed. (that actually took me more time to write that than it would have if i had just written real words!!!) and sentence structure, before you post, read what you have typed out aloud, if you almost die from lack of oxygen because you have no commers or full stops, then there is something wrong! and lastly, broad questions like "can i fit this engine into this car" show that you have not researched it at all, and are wanting to be spoon fed the information. this tells me that you are not serious about the engine conversion. oh yeah welcome to rolla club! sr20det is an INSANE engine to put into a corolla. alot of fun to be had... SLW42 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Screw the sr go and buy a ca18det they bolt straight into the 30's crossmember using ca engine mounts, all you need then is brains, money, fuel system, tools, and a good drivetrain, just my two cents Quote
LXY-642 Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Have you actually done that? Ca onto ke30 k frame with ca mounts? Cause ca and sr mount the same :hmm: Quote

Cause ca and sr mount the same :blinks: nope but i have witnessed it 1st hand working fine in a blue ke30 up here in bris with one of those fancy little blue plates in the engine bay saying it was legal :hmm: Quote
LXY-642 Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 What rubbers was he using? Cause that's very interesting :hmm: no need for custom mounts just bolt it in :blinks: Quote
SLW42 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 When i enquired about engine mounts all he told me, 'quote almost exact words - just standard ca engine mounts' thats what he said, would be advisable to test fit a block and mounts into the car before though. Quote
