Punch Up!

soOO i had an altercation with a random curb... :yes: things got outta hand.. and he pulled a sneaky swift sucker punch on my right front wheel whilst i was picking up my dropped fone from the floor..

 

anyhows i really got knocked the feck out.. :D :P :( got the wobbles.. but no external injuries...

 

but next morning.. i seemed to have internal bruising..??

 

blah blah... hehe anyways guys.. after hitting and climbing the curb, next day:

*on braking and pulling up for a red light she stalls..

*hard start up

*rough idle

*doesn't hold idle..stalls

apparently these are common symptoms after a hard knock...?? so i've read quickly with a google search.. WHAT HAS HAPPENNED?

 

also visual inspection on front end suspension shows nothing bent.. but car feels like it's tripping over it's own foot when turning... steering wheel 45degrees to the left to keep a straight line... feels like wheel wants to fall off but everything is per normal and tight..

ok getting to my question... whatcomponents get's adjusted during a wheel alignment?

 

please share ur brains...

Just some things that i can think of, something's happened to your float in your carby to mess that up, with the front end the steering rod thingy would of jump a couple of teeth in the steering box thingo. Also jack the car up and see if the wheel wobbles, could of bent it so when you turn its on a bit of an angle which might cause this 'tripping over it's own foot'. And also i don't know how other people might feel but it might be easier if you spoke in a more technical fashion when it comes to mechanical problems. Just my two cents....

you've bent or buckled a suspension component, possibly a rim, a strut, a radius rod, a control arm bush, a steering arm, or even the chassis.

 

you've probably got an issue with the float in the carburettor as well.

I agree with Robert. Our Celica was having similar issues, visually all looked ok but had several of those components bent. Got them replaced and a wheel alignment and she's as good as new :D

for the suspension side of thinkgs just take it to pedders and get them to check it etcetc. makes it easy and only costs like $14

then you'll know whats wrong.

Anywhere but Pedders I would suggest. They will tell you everything needs replacing, standard opperating procedure for most pedders stores.

 

Your local tire place should be able to inspect and repair, Ian Diffen fixed mine.

Check your lower control arm, strut, wheel bearing adjustment, check where the lower control arm mounts into the crossmember, all these thing may have been bent, or put out of shape/adjustment when your car decided to dive at the gutter, i would suggest replacing all the above things then get a wheel alignment, and get them to check it out and see how bad it is, cheers Justin

yeah i don't like pedders.. sorry to say... but that's not to say there aren't good ones out there...
