Hi all,

Does any one know why engine oil would become very thick and stick in clumps in the sump even when warm? its a diesel engine but any help would be good even if it relates to petrol engines..

when do you last change the oil???

sounds like shit or very cheap oil.

what you need to look for on the oil pack is SH/CC or higher rating.

the first letters refer to petrol engine the last refer to diesel engines.

what engine is it and what's it in, does it have an oil cooler????

auto or manual???

how much diesel does it use, per 100km's.

to me it sounds like the oil is breaking down due to excess fuel or dirt.

diesel oils have a hi degree of detergent because diesel fuel is really dirty, try changing where you fill up with diesel.

have you had the sump off it??

could be one of the breather pipe's on the engine somewhere is blocked also.

i found out what the problem is.. the fuel pump is allowing to much fuel to be sent to the injectors, so soot is building up on the cylinder walls which is ending up in the oil, this in turn causes the oil to over heat and when it cools down it form clumps around the soot..... i have seen petrol cars over fueling before but there oil turns to a water like thinkness.... forgot that the diesel will burn all the fuel but leave heaps of soot behind LOL....

thanks for everybodies help....
