ancullen Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Yes the FJ20 may be cheaper to buy initially, but I would think that the SR20 would be cheaper to upgrade (and for better results). I don't think the FJ20 is THAT much tougher than the SR20. As I said before, if you're concerned about the strength of the alloy block, get it bored and sleeved and the strength rises rather significantly, plus it becomes smoother in the process. Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 problem is that those engines don't really exist out here, if it's not american these hicks don't want it. i may use bubba's engine and trans in the truck Quote

FJ for me thanks over ca18... quite a few of them makeing 400hp for a fair while on stock bottom ends running around 24PSI... and reliable 20 psi engines... Shoudl be easy to do a low 12 high 11 with that power.. and traction. http://www.turbocreations.com/fj20/ have a look under feature cars on this site... Quote
ancullen Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 FJ is getting a bit thin on the ground now... Kinda shares status with the 3T engines etc... overengineered but still a heavy lump of metal. Would stick with hi-tech with cheap parts availability myself... Couldn't agree more. Would love to do something with a 2T/3T, but will probably never get the chance due to cost. And I think Toyota and overengineered go hand in hand. Who else would build a V8 that you can add forced induction to, running fairly high psi, whilst maintaining stock internals, including the stock high compression ratio??? Try that with your Nissan rubbish. And good luck getting your hands on a VH45 motor in the first place anyway. And there is no way I'd ever use a CA18 for anything after the bagging out they constantly seem to get from everyone. SR20 all the way when it comes to Nissan 4-cylinders. Quote
