19914afc Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Hey, ive decided to go with a 3t/2tg hybrid engine conversion for my T18 and would like to know what parts are needed. I know I need: 3TC engine (is complete) 2TGEU is the head I may be getting 2TG Timing cover Or do you think I would be better off rebuilding the 3tc with performance parts as there are plenty of performance parts for them and I already have extractors and a stage 2 or 3 cam for the 3t engine. 19914afc Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) what else do I need, I now have 2tg head 2tg timing bits 2tg dummy shaft to operate fuel pump and dizzy and ill be getting a 3tc block soon. ive read that if you use stock pistons you have to get them fly cut?, otherwise apparently wiseco forged pistons are OK to use without any mods. fusion Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Searched Toymods? Good place for alot of info Quote
19914afc Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 ye there are a few couple of pages that people have made when they are building their own but none that state all the parts needed. Quote
styler Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 need a complete 2tg for all the parts, timing gear, head and dummy cam. Quote
seabiscuit Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 3TC garage will probably have ALL of the info you need. Completely dedicated to T-series engines and the cars you can find/put them in. Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 3tc garage is all about putting as much psi into a T-series motor as possible, as stated you need a complete 2tg to rape all the parts off. flycuts will need to be cut if your using standard 3t pistons, well from what I understand anyway. All the info is out there. :P Quote
styler Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 and also remember that its 2t pistons with 2t crank, 3t pistons with 3t crank. and if you fly cut 3t pistons, just check that the crown is thick enough to do so and not break through or weaken too much. Quote
19914afc Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Ye, I bought a complete 2TG off here for $80. ive also read (will confirm later) that the wiseco 3tc forged pistons have fly-cuts already done to them. Ye I'm buying a complete 3tc as well of teddy one day this week ill probably ask him to bring it to work with him and ill just work on it there. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Have you heard about putting in a 4Y crank and getting it to 2.2-2.4 ltr's? Quote
SLW42 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Have you heard about putting in a 4Y crank and getting it to 2.2-2.4 ltr's? i knew you could really push a 2tg if you had abit of money to 2L, but you couldn't go any further before you had to go stupid with the block by putting in sleeves and what not. beacuse the block and head that 19914afc bought off me has been bored and stroked, from 1.6 - 1.8L it probobly could have gone further i have been told but then it just risked cutting into water and oil jackets in the block, i knew you could use 3t cranks and (don't quote me on this) maybe the pistons, in the 2t blocks but only after you have bored the cylinders Quote
white_sandshoe Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 You DON'T need to bore the cylinders to take the 3T crank... you say you Bored AND Stroked it to get 1.8L??? how much did you bore it out by??? Quote
