My First Rolla

Hi all, i'm new to the site and just wanted to share my new project. I recently bought a Ke26 wagon with a 5k 4 speed. I got it as a daily but seeing how small it is and how little it weighs, i'm thinking of a good motor for it for the quarter mile. I,ve got a Buick 3.8 5 speed, or a starfire 4, Aussie 4 speed . i can get either for nothing and would turbo the starfire if that was chosen. Just wondered what you guys reckon? Cheers :)

Yeah it did cross my mind but after reading the threads about them it put me off, not enough gain. I want something quick to have a bit of fun in, being in tassie too it doesn't really matter if i get it engineered cause the cops are pretty lenient and i've never seen anyone get a defect down here let alone even come close. I suppose i'm too used to my v8's1 haha.

And not to forget a ke55 is a fair bit heavier then a ke26 :) have a look at above tax_rx thread. 10pso boost and 100rwkw while keeping the light weight of the stock engine and being able to steer still unlike a commodore engine.

Personally I think even just a well sorted NA 5k would be better than dropping a heavy old v6 in it.

Maybe you should take him for a spin Si :laff: I reckon he'd change his mind on the turbo 5k then.

HEy all, thanks for the replies. Yeah i was gonna go the v6 cause i had it lying around and the whole corners thing doesn't worry me much. It's got cart springs anyhow. :) Thats why i also thought of the turbo 4. I'd probably rather stick to something n/a as well so i was thinking about a 2 litre or something. Cheers.

Just do some work to the 5k mate. You'd be suprised how well you can get them going with a little work..... I'm talking NA btw.

IMHO thats a much better option than say converting to a starfire :) .....and a V6.... well thats just a retard on viagra! :)

I agree with simon, keep the 5K in it and just bolt on twin side draught webers and have some fun. :) You'll be suprised how well these motors go. :)

Oh and replace the 4-speed for a 5-speed box, much better for highway cruising.

I've never heard of someone considering a conversion TO a startfires motor.... They're usually pulling them out because they are a piece of shit.

Cheers for the replies guy's. Yeah been thinking about it and i don't wanna end off over some cliff cause there's too much weight in the nose (v6). So No go there. Starfire was because i've got it lying around.

I was thinking of it because it 1: It pushes a vh commodore alright.

2: It's an easy conversion, Three wires and fuel line to run.

3:It's Cheap to replace when (yes when, not if) it breaks. ha ha

IF i went the starfire i'd definately turbo it thoough.

Definately want a 5 speed for now cause 80 percent of my driving is to and from work down a 100 kph highway, revving way too hard at the moment.

Looks like a really nice KE26 mate. Too clean to build it only to spend it's time on the strip. You'll have way more fun with a hot 5K and 5-speed in her. Get some more pics up for us to admire! :)
