drewy86 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Hey guys, I had a wacky idea last night I had to ask some Corolla experts.. Coming from a mainly nissan and holden ownership... I was wondering if it is possible to put a Nissan rb30e in a ke50 or am I just day dreaming?? Thanks Drew Quote
drewy86 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 Not to bad, Got a mechanic mate, Family friend who is an auto sparky, welders and panel beaters i can get my hands on preety easy.. I am guessing it is a BIG step!! Would i have to get an engineer certificate?? Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 it wouldn't be street legal not without registering your car as an Independantly Constructed Vehicle, which would mean making the car compliant with all CURRENT ADRs and getting about 10 to 15 grand of chassis stress and emissions testing done. for the amount of money you'd spend, it wouldn't be worth it there was a ke20 in adelaide getting around with an unengineered rb30de conversion for a while, they just cut a massive hole in the firewall Quote
NickZ Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Buy why? A 1ggte has been done into the KE30 etc corolla and isnt as much as a boat anker as a rb30, I would also think it would make more power than a rb30 too. People keep asking these questions about radical engines in these cars, ANY thing will fit, youll just have to modify a little more. Monster garage put a jet engine into a celica. Quote
drewy86 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 Na she wouldn't be a daily driver!! (F^%K a duck that would be cool but) Me and a dear friend of mine have just purchased a granny pack Ke55 sedan which we are planing on joing the rally circut with!! Looking for extra Kilowatts!! But at the mom on a bloody big budget as I am inbetweenm jobs and my mate was laid off as off 2weeks ago.. We have been reading the how to get K motor hot section on Wiki!! Thanks for the info guys... If you know of anywhere I can get webers or su's cheap and some extractors let me know.. I rang some bloke but has he said "CBF looking out the back it is raining" So still in the market Thanks Again Drew Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 corollas and tight budget go hand in hand my friend :) you can pick up bits cheap off ebay and datsun forums Quote
Raven Posted August 13, 2005 Report Posted August 13, 2005 I know that KE20 with the RB30 engine that was gettin around adelaide. That had an Rx4 minispooled diff in it and was auto. got him to pull some nice doughies on the road outside work before he left (i used to work at BP). Apparently, it would go sideways at 110kph when u kicked down the trans. I saw under the bonnet too. Had a massive hole in the firewall to fit that engine. Personally, I'd got for an SR20DET. :) Quote
Xany Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 i witnessed a L20 datsun engine make 150Hp on the weekend.....it was still N/A running dual 45 sidedrafts.....nice little engine that one. Quote
allmtr Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 still not legal in nsw :) rb25 would be tho..... Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 are u sure SRDET aint legal in nsw?, cos i believe it is in QLD, i thought our rules were the strictest? Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 ke2x weighs 760kg in nsw 760x2.5=1900, so that's the biggest forced engine you can put in one in qld, a ke20 is heavier, a ke25 is lighter. go figure? Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 i see. so the DOT actually has a set weight for each model of car... is this listed on the net, or should i see an engineer? i think ke30s are safe but i best be sure.. Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 email QT and they'll provide you with the weight you request. the RTA have emailed me an entire page of corolla stuffs. there's actually a KE20-BD which weighs 790kg in nsw :) Quote
