Mitch-12 Posted June 2, 2010 Author Report Posted June 2, 2010 i do beat jake and harry at wagga but i did this other one any way my main problem at wagga is the ae82's can i beat them? Quote
coln72 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Do you unscrew the knob out of the handbrake lever. If you do, it will disapble the ratchet. Makes it a lot easier to use in an event .... :D Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 2, 2010 Author Report Posted June 2, 2010 yea i have te ratchet disabled what do i need to do to beat ae82's? Quote
coln72 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 a locker, talent, fwd When I was competing in Ballarat, it was generally accepted that fwd was approx. 3-5 seconds quicker per lap of the autocross track. The bastards don't have to lift off when thay start sliding :abuse: Quote
towe001 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 my dad drives v8 supercars I was going to make a comment about this bit but since the thread has finely moved on i'm not going to worry about it.... About the only way i could think of "beating" that '82 is grip, but to be able to make the same fast turns as what the '82 can do you'd have to have the tail slide out and then you'll be losing the grip which will slow you down. unless you can pull some talent out of your Quote
altezzaclub Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Yeah... ask your Dad, he seems to know how to do it! The trouble is that you're just starting your racing career and it is all about experience, especially when the driver is doing the car setup/building as well. Try different things on your gravel test track- brakes, suspensions, weights ... everything mentioned here. The more you do the more you learn. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 I'm thinking boost or ebgine conversion for a bit more power and i got handling sorted Quote
altezzaclub Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 What diff are you using Mitch? Locked? Limited slip? Any regulations over what you're allowed? Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) locked i welded it up. rules are normal khanacross rules, anything goes anything to dramatic they make me a special different class. but if i keep it a chassis car I'm right. engine free but bigger it is i go up classes, gearbox, diff, suspension free and road tyres only. Mitch-12 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Report Posted June 5, 2010 hmm... I'm thinking something along the lines of rotary Quote
towe001 Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 My opinion of that would be get the suspension sorted first and then maybe up the motor. Its no good having a massive power house under the bonnet and not being able to fully utilize it at the ground. In other words - big torque monster of a motor but its useless cause all it does is smoke up the tires cause they can't hook up to the road cause the anti-squat and roll steer hasn't been figured out. . altezzaclub Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Do you get axle tramp Mitch? Does the tail step out under brakes? Battery in the boot? Radiator? Driver in the back seat? Softer rear springs or harder, flatter or more curved? You should compare notes with Rob, he does exactly the same events. Edited June 5, 2010 by altezzaclub Quote
