Chillin Posted August 12, 2011 Author Report Posted August 12, 2011 Well Well Well.. Alot has happened since the last update, More engine drama's and Picked up some goodies  So the low down atm is the car is running, Good old 4k power The 5k i have will be rebuilt to be put into the rig at some point late this year, early next, no rush at all. Looking for a nice tough NA k engine to keep things moving. Evan G's little thread of the sparkling 5k really inspired me to learn more about the engine internals and what not so for the most part i will be assembling the engine. Should be a nice learning curve for myself. Below is rebuild kit 20thou, VRS kit, Seals and Gaskets, Just got Brand new fuel pump and water pump on the way. Quote

Crowie55 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 i reckon both the cars there on monday night would look better if had one set rims all round If you are talking about the white wagon directly next to this it already has matching wheels, just waiting for the widened outers to arrive before I get the centers powder coated red like the rears, saves mucking around. SLO-030 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 How much and where did you get the 20thou over slugs? Quote
GJM85 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) How much and where did you get the 20thou over slugs? A Taiwanese company make them... Nason Auto Parts. AutoPro can get them. I've got 20thou shallows in my 5k. I do actually thing they do flat tops for 5k as well. Edited August 31, 2011 by GJM85 Quote

Chillin Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 Pistons are called endroutec, purchased them off a private seller so i have no idea sorry. I don't think the rims would look better if they suited, having drum brakes on the rear and the open plan of the starshark rims would look very weird. Meshies would not be an option as i have very limited specs to run on the front. a 10mm slip on the rear will make me happy Quote
Crowie55 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 I suppose it's hard to get everything 100% matching and overrated when your building a car from the ground up. Don't have that problem when you buy a car already done aye... Quote
Chillin Posted September 16, 2011 Author Report Posted September 16, 2011 (edited) Turns out the 5k's head gasket was blown between cyl 3 and 4, i guess that is why it was running like a for prong rotor. Good news is the head has been port and polished and the valves are in top condition. pistons look the goods too. I'm thinking i have a deep dish 5k on my hands as the pistons are a lot deeper than my rebuild kit replacement's if someone can confirm this with to pictures below i would be very grateful. So my plan now is to get some gaskets together, put her all back together with existing parts, lighten the flywheel, and stick her back in the car, then concentrate on the bodywork and rear end setup.
