beerhead Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Hell yeah, will be great with a 5spd, do you need to change the ecu too? Quote
Rich_Rolla Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) Hell yeah, will be great with a 5spd, do you need to change the ecu too? Nah, but you will need to use a J3 chip so the ecu recognizes that it no longer needs to change gears. With the xr6t intake i'm pretty sure you need to remove the rubber on the bonnet above the snorkel..Doesn't change much. Try get some pacemaker comps and a nice 2.5" exhaust if you can swing it. The intech motors sound great with a decent exhaust system. I wish I got the pacemaker comps instead of the advance headers. Lemme know if you need any info on anything, i've basically replaced or modified just about everything you possibly can. Edited January 15, 2011 by Rich_Rolla Quote
Des Posted January 16, 2011 Author Report Posted January 16, 2011 Nah, but you will need to use a J3 chip so the ecu recognizes that it no longer needs to change gears. As soon as you unplug the gearbox it thinks the auto fluid is cook so the fans go on high speed all the time and the ECON light flashes indicating a fluid issue. Ive got the manual ECU for it so i just need a ford dealership for 20 mins to set it to me car. Good thing a good mate works for ford ;) Quote
RedKE30 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 How did you find the shift kit in the auto? Worth it? Quote
Des Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 How did you find the shift kit in the auto? Worth it? Meh, In the wet it is fun but in the dry its too harsh. When its wet if your turning just a little bit when it shifts to second it kicks out hard and becomes quite a hand full. Quote
Rich_Rolla Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 How did you find the shift kit in the auto? Worth it? I have one in mine. Can't drive without it. Mines always set on low...crank it up and it chirps hard into second and sometimes third. Can be harsh for daily commuting though (stop - start). To put it to good use though you're gonna want to have a xr6 diff minimum. I can't remember if you said you were putting a cam in or not. My next donk will probably sport the wade 977b in a S1 AU motor, I find the 1673 is pretty decent for daily driving. Quote
Des Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 I want to run a low boost turbo setup. 200rwkw and I'm happy. Quote
Rich_Rolla Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Ahh, fair enough. I was gonna go boosted but I can't be bothered forking out to get it engineered and I don't want to get defected. Snort do some good kits for fairly decent prices. 200rwkw's is easily attainable. Quote
Des Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Now running with the manual :D Quote

Trev Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Much better. Its definitely a lot quicker and climbs hills soo much better in top gear. Just don't forget that it is now a manual, I have seen it happen, come to stop, foot on brake, car stalls, WTF :lolcry: Quote
