parrot Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I would never buy anything there unless I saw exactly what I was getting, and loaded it there and then into my car / trailer, without turning my back. If not there, you could get anything sent to you. Once you pay over the money, the promised extra bits they are "getting in next week" are impossible to drag out of them. And yes I have personal experience. Quote
jaygore Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 well i sure do hope that I don't have to go through any of this garbage. Honestly its just a joke, I mean toyo spares tried to tell me that there is basically no difference between the 4k and 5k... Quote
JJT036 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I mean toyo spares tried to tell me that there is basically no difference between the 4k and 5k... Umm... Yes there is! - 1200cc's. - 5.5mm Bore Size. - Hydraulic Lifters. - 5-10kw ATF. A Worked 4K is practically a Tuned-up 5K. Where is this Toyospares? Might try and source a 7K-E Intake Manifold and check out the Customer Service from them. Josh  Quote
philbey Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) oh yeh, toyospares... edelmaier street, it all comes back to me. Never bought there, i made a few phone calls to them years ago and decided to take my business elsewhere. Edited December 13, 2010 by philbey Quote
JJT036 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Right... So they must be really bad to deal with? Maybe my best bet is to go find the 7K-E Intake Manifold in a Wreckers on Maffra St in Coolaroo. Shiftiest wreckers Dad and I have ever come across. Internationals driving Forklifts without Licenses, Almost Every Car in there (except Ferraris, Lambos, etc.), and Engines and Gearboxs in Pieces when you first walk in. :lolcry: Ohhh... Dodgy Dodgy Dodgy... :lolcry: Josh  Edited December 13, 2010 by ewt Quote
parrot Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I love those wreckers where you have to walk across oil soaked ground to get to the counter! Quote
jaygore Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 Yea I would not ever go through toyo spares, but my mechanic who has always done well by me went through them. I will not be going to this mechanic ever again!!! However now this has happened this 4k will only be a temporary engine, will try and get the 5k back, rebuild it, sell both of them off and go either 4agze turned into a 4agte or a 13bt Quote

Josh  I wouldnt go through them to be honest, maybe try these guys, I gave them a call the other day, they had nothing in the 4k or 5k range but had a bit in the 7k range, not to sure what their reputation is like though Quote
jaygore Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 I love those wreckers where you have to walk across oil soaked ground to get to the counter! Theres a wrecker here in ballarat, who just tells you to go take the part out your self haha! Hes like there should be one down the back, just pull it apart your self hahaha! I usually just leave lol Quote

I'm not gonna go through them. I think their Reputation is Self-Explanitory reading all this! Parrot: This Maffra St. Wreckers is so shifty, it's not funny. Like I posted earlier, Engines in Pieces Dripping Oil and Fluid, and Gearboxs Apart and Stuffed. There's about 100 Holdens, 100 Fords, 100 Toyotas, and so on. :lolcry: Josh  Edited December 13, 2010 by ewt Quote
jaygore Posted December 14, 2010 Author Report Posted December 14, 2010 Hahaha yea well I'm going to learn from this lesson and Its good that it has created an awareness for others as well Quote
jaygore Posted December 14, 2010 Author Report Posted December 14, 2010 Ok so called the mechanic and I will be getting my 5k back! So I will be rebuilding it with my dad, so I will most likely be asking alot of questions from you guys as to how I can build it for the cheapest possible price but also so that it will be a tough engine... Then I will be looking at selling both the 4k and 5k and going either rotary or 4agze/4agte not to sure yet Quote
jaygore Posted December 16, 2010 Author Report Posted December 16, 2010 Hey guys, as I am going on the cruise in jan along the great ocean road, I am thinking of getting my car lowered before then, so that I have better handling... What is the cheapest/safest/best options that I would have to look at, but tight on cash at the moment, so just sussing it out for now Quote
jaygore Posted December 18, 2010 Author Report Posted December 18, 2010 Ok so i got the car back, and I am not happy at all, he told me he didnt tune it and I would need to go get it tuned, He also then told me I need to go get new spark plugs to put in it. He then continued on to say that he decided to throw my thermostat out! And that my radiator needs to be flushed as my car starts to over heat quite quickly. This is after him telling me he would not let a car leave his garage unless all these things were dealt with! Spark plugs are cheap and easy so not fussed with that. But the radiator might cost a little bit to get flushed :( I am now thinking that the 4k is a temp motor and I'm going to start looking at something a little bit more serious :D Quote

What is the cheapest/safest/best options that I would have to look at, but tight on cash at the moment, so just sussing it out for now 1 1/2 inch lowering blocks for the rear - $90 or so. 1 1/2 inch kings springs for the front - $125 or so. if you want to go lower your looking at $250 for 2inch because they don't make springs lower than that for the front. they have to be recoiled. It cost $740 to have my struts shortened, short stroke inserts and recoiled 1 1/2 inch springs to 2 1/4 inches and that lowered the front a total of 55mm. you can get 2 inch lowering blocks for the rear also, but i'd recommend upgrading to a ke55 shocky to add a bit of hard to the rear end and there about $160 a pair depending on brand. you'll also need a sleeve for the lower shocky eye because the 20 shock uses a 12mm pin and the 55 uses a 16mm pin.
