XEESPT Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah hi lads just wondering wether someone here might be able to help me out with a problem my mum is having with her car which for the life of me i can't seem to be able to work out. it is a 1982 5 speed four cyl corolla. the windscreen wipers have decided to park themselves semi midscreen when not in use instead of sitting tucked away at the bottom of the screen. i have replaced the indicator/wiper stalk assembley thinking that this was the cause but it hasnt fixed the problem. if i leave the wipers going then turn the key off when they get to the bottom of the sweep they stay there. but as soon as the key is turned on again they reset straight back up the middle again, even when stalk set in the off position? got me stuffed i need to fix it before rego as its impairs vision when driving and not in use! Cheers in advance.. See Ya Sideways.... XEESPT Quote

Medicine_Man Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Sounds more to me like the wiper arms have slipped where they tighten down, Motor should always park in the same spot which it sounds like it is doing.. Quote
XEESPT Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah i thought it might of possibley been the arms slipped on the spindle (unlikely both at once) so i undid them and reset them.. eh oh. nearley f#ked the paint as they then wanted to complete their bottom stroke on the bonnett. lucky i was quik! then i pulled the motor from the firewall thinking perhaps the arm on the motor had slipped but alas it wasnt so? I also thought maybe it could be a wiper relay but was unsure wether they ran them or not on this model and also unsure if so as to where it would be located? Cheers again See Ya Sideways XEESPT Quote
love ke70 Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 wow, in for verdict on this one. try a different motor? ive got one or two here if you wanted to try one, dunno your location though... interesting it travels the correct sweep but stops in centre... Quote
XEESPT Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah weird hey... have bench tested the motor and it works perfectley. begining to think it is a relay. Where is the wiper relay located on this model of car? See Ya Sideways XEESPT Quote
