dbott85 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Have a 78 rolla which I believe is a KE30. I'm looking to do a engine and drive swap to a 1GGTE motor possibly. Has anyone done this or know if it is even possible? Quote
jason12 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 With enough money / time / planning / know how anything is possible. Would require chopping the firewall and tran tunnel i imagine. (assuming theyre a straight 6) Quote

dbott85 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Being new to toyota scene (been a RX3 kid) I'm not sure of toyota motors. Don't mind what I use but want it to be toyota motor and I want it to be turbo'd. Any ideas are welcome as this will be my new project car. Cost isn't really a concern but convenience is and ease of fitment would be preferred. Quote

As the guy above said any motor will fit with enough money, have a look around in the members rides section on here at what others are doing. You need to ask your self: will you rego it? what do you want to do with it (circuit, drag, street, ----drift) Then decide on a motor or two then ask us.... Quote
dbott85 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Sweet I'll have a google tonight and see. I know I'm allowed a 2.0l turbo to register it which is what I ultimately want to do. I want it to be a daily drive which I can do drag or track day also. Quote
Jono.C Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 yes its possible but i can't really see the point to be honest, the corolla is a light agile car, then people put big heavy 6 cylinder motors in them and expect them to drive the same.. the best option is to do something common.. eg. 4age, 22re, 18rg.. that way the handling and characteristics of the car arent compromised.. and there are a lot more parts out for 4ag's into corolla's then any other motor. that way you wont have to spent thousands on brakes, springs, steering and diff to keep it on the road. thats my two cents. end rant. Sam_Q Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 I agree with the above not only are 4ag engines everywhere and cheap the 1GG engines are hard to get parts for Quote
rb20 rolla Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) if you want to go around corners fast go the 4age if you want to go in a straight line go the 6 i am making 130kw at the wheels with a stock rb20 and a little more boost then standard. with the coilovers 8kgs in the front and 6kgs in the rear it is a dream to drive around you just can't push it heaps hard around corners the thing trys to fight you real hard..i have seen one in zoom mag with no firewall mods the 1g looks smaller then an rb.
