Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 coolant yeah i've pulled waterpumps off before. jst trying to avoid that. we'll see how we go. quite a bit more hassle than a thermostat. jst going big to small. the problem could be either thing especially with its behaviour. Quote
Evan G Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 just remove the thermostat problem solvered Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 thats worse running a car dead cold is almost as harmful as running it too hot Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Cavitated and thrown the clearances out beyond limit. Reducing the efficiency of the impeller. Explain why it gets warm, then gets the water moving quicker when it gets revved, hence the cooling down. ^^^I'm with Ryan. Most logical diagnosis. Just get yourself a NEW pump. Cheap off ebay, just make sure you get the right one as there's a few different versions. :P Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 well i've been watching the guage and my driving today and yesterday. the revs thing actually doesn't come into it anymore. i was cruising and the temp gets 3/4's then drop to half then drops to 2/5's so the revving doesn't affect it. Tally Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 If its the pump that was on my old/your KE30, yea its a brand newy, so don't think it would be the pump man.... Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 my thoughts too. but ya never know Quote
Raven Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 I've seen new pumps shit themselves, or the wrong clearances causing it to be ineffective at circulating the coolant before. I'd put my money on that or even a head gasket that hasnt been torqued down properly allowing coolant to escape in the form of steam. :rolls: Double check your head bolts! Quote
ke70dave Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 make sure you temp guage is working too... i know its a silly suggestion but i thought my car was overheating, the temp was goin up and down with what i thought was revs. i changed water pump, thermostat, new coolant, flushed everything almost bought a new radiator... but turned out i had a loose connection and when i reved it i guess the extra oomf of the engine cause the wire to short on the chassis, causing my temp gauge to go up. fixed up that wire, and all of a sudden my car didnt overheat. give it a compression test and possibly a leak down test, just to check out that headgasket. greenmac80 Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 yes i believe the head gasket may be a problem i haven't re torqued it yet. but as i said above revs actually doesn't effect the way it heats up it seems more like a lazy thermostat. the reason why i though revs cooled it was because it was an instant reaction to rev it to get the coolant running. but as of the other day i tried it cruising and also now in idle. it does the same thing.
