Probably like 3 kebab shops in all of cairns owned by lebbo's. don't see many getting around :) interesting shiz! Paint is sooooo Wierd! So many things to take in. Quote
greenmac80 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 if you plan to do it yourself and you've never sprayed with a gun before go for acrylic. Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 7, 2010 Author Report Posted June 7, 2010 I'll have a friend to do it. I just have to buy all the shit. Ive been looking for the toyota paint code and I cannot find it. I saw it once. Had like ae71 then branched down into things like auto or manual and trim and colours and stuff like that. Quote

Ben-89 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 (edited) Its on the build plate :lolcry: Two letter code. :) I think the paint code is the first two letters, followed by the trim colour and axle code. Jesse, the proper name for the paint is called "Glacier" and its metallic. You're colour is on the bottom rh corner. Doesn't that red car familiar :laff: Edited June 7, 2010 by "The Mint KE70" Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 7, 2010 Author Report Posted June 7, 2010 Thanks fellas. Thanks heaps as well to you there MintKe70! Glacier and indeed it is metallic. ill just try and buy what they used back then. Was it Acryllic? I don't want anything FLASH but you know. Just to get me by and something that looks decent, sprayed from a gun. Quote
greenmac80 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 no idea if its acrylic more than likely it is. then you'll have to use an acrylic clear and buff it to a perfect shine as with an acrylic metallic you won't be able to buff it. Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 10, 2010 Author Report Posted June 10, 2010 Reconditioned my Window Wiper's. Look awesome now. Not rusty and old! Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Went to see the car this afternoon. Stopped into supercheap auto on the way and got some filler primer, sandpaper and colour coded paint to match the car. Wet and dryed the surface rust and found some bog in the guards and below the rear passenger door. Its all good but there isnt much in there and its not to bad! masked up the windows and chrome and sprayed the paint on. Looks alright but its not very pretty. Thanks! Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) I changed out my Transmission Fluid this afternoon. Feels better yet again. I put about 2L in there. Is that alright??? Roady and rego soon hopefully! I also discovered some rust that has just been painted over to stop further oxidization, now I just want to know whether to sand it back then put rust converter stuff on it and then what? I don't know the process as to getting rid of the rust because its not all the way through its just little flakes. Any steps would be appreciated ! Edited June 14, 2010 by Jesseb369 Quote

What i did to my surface rust was just chipped out as much of the loose rust as i could then wire brushed it, sanded it and then applied 2 coats of rust converter, i let the rust converter dry then lightly sanded the rusty patches again to give to bog sumthing to stick to, i then applied a light layer of bog. After it dried i just sanded it till it was smooth and blended it in with the rest of the body work, then i applied some primer surfacer and some colour coded spray and presto good as new hahahaha. Jesseb369 Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 FOUND SOME RUST :P !!!! it was all bogged up in the left hand side, rear wheel arch/well. In the front of the wheel at the bottom to near the rear door. On bit the size of a tennis ball and on going through the fender about a 20cent piece. And at the rear of the tire down the bottom where the tyre Jack usually would sit. Down the bottom there. all the way through. I'm not pissed because I have a welder and steel at hand. But I am just gonna buy a sand blaster gun thing for a compressor and do all of the wheel arch's and prep them and sound proof them like one of the fellas has done on his thread on rollaclub rides, looks overrated and will last for ever :y: ill get some pics of it soon anddddddd! i got my horn going and put my new wiper blades on the reco'd wiper's. I was going to get a roady today. Called and they said bring it in thursday. If I have the rust done then I will take it in on thursday. Also found out that the rear left hand wheel is bent. Quote
