oh what a nissan feeling! Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) awesome sounding motor, good power for their era, reliability issues, heavy. why the hell you would chuck one in a ke70 i could never understand. Edited May 10, 2010 by oh what a nissan feeling! Quote
GJM85 Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 The head-gasket problem should only be a problem up until the first change, it was a production defect that can be fixed once and for all by the correct gasket and torquing procedure. Sounds like your old man has warped the head. That would not surpise me in the slightest. Though the cylinder walls in those things is surpisingly thin. Quote
lanceishere Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 haha, oh well... some things just weren't meant to be... as far as the 1g's go, would a 1G-GEU fit? Quote
Sam_Q Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 1G engines are getting old now and parts have always been hard to get Quote
the_van_can Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 go the 1g, and from what I have herd they are hard to find parts. Kyle Hopf's 1ggte KE70 Wagon - The 9 second station wagon Quote
Sam_Q Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 but unless there is some major firewall mods the weight will be more forward of the front wheels, you can't easily make up for that Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) Where there is a problem, there is a hammer to fix it........ *edit for spelling fail* Edited May 11, 2010 by Toy-Yoda Quote
lanceishere Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Posted May 11, 2010 this kind of deal in a ke70 would be more realistic? i want more power... but i want something a little different, and it has to be n/a. i've managed to hunt down a 1G-GUE and everything ($850 at brisbane motor imports if anyone's interested) but at the moment i just want to plan from every angle and make sure it will work without too much fuss... (like cutting the fire wall :blinks: ) if it comes to it, i'll put in a 4AGE running ITB's so i can at least slide it round a corner :( Quote
GJM85 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 18RG twin solex' with sillycar diff, tailshaft, gearbox, front suspension and steering. That would slide with a 2nd gear clutch kick. Quote

beerhead Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 lol celica diff he's meaning. Better off with a T series T18 diff, they bolt straight in Quote
lanceishere Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) lol, i knew that... ;) but the 18rg does seem to be the most logical option so far... (aside from a 4age, but EVERYONE has a 4age) and it keeps with my plan for carbs ;) ...re-naming topic... Edited May 14, 2010 by lanceishere Quote
GJM85 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 if your really lucky you might find one with injection otherwise most come twin carbed.... use to have the injected one laying in the shed till my dad decided he needed the coin... ;) Quote
