Paul Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) Well a wise man once said "I will never own another AE82 again" Yet here I am. Picked it up on Friday night. Pretty sweet deal I guess. It's a very original CSX with all the goodies. Has a very nice interior with the velour headlining, rear headrests, tacho dash and elongated console arrangement. Previous owner added a JVC MP3 headunit and Pioneer front speakers which is mega bonus. The car was originally optioned up with the aircon and power steering so it's an absolute pleasure to drive with the steering. Paintowrk is faded as so I'll need to give it a bit of a cut/polish/wax. Three out of four window regs are rooted so I'll be off to the wreckers in the morning to get some goodies. Here it is, as it sits after a wash on the way home from picking it up... *edit pics later SD card not reading* Only really bought it for a couple reasons... A: need a car to get around in when I pull the van off the road B: Gotta teach an L plater in a car I don't give two hoots about Edited May 10, 2010 by Paul Quote
Ben-89 Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Let me know when you want to polish it up :jamie: bloody overrated it will be. Quote
Paul Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 Don't say I didn't warn you all, it's a pretty serious looking little street machine. Quote
twisted2 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 look like it will clean up nicely with polish much rust?? Quote
Paul Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 Only rust I've seen is the bit on the right rear gaurd and there's the usual stuff inside the A pillars. Pretty stoked really as I bought it sight un-seen. Big thanks to Ben for popping over this-arvo to help with the initial tidy up. We got a bit of hand cut/polishing done and Ben did some quick panel improvements on the right gaurd. We also changed the parker assemblies. Shit looks rediculous clean now in comparison to before, but it was too dark to get any better pics than this one... Quote
twisted2 Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 i asked bout the rust as i have bought 2 a82 twin cams in 2 weeks and learning where they rust Quote
7shades Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 You've already named it.... I dub thee 'Bucket'. Quote
Trev Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) i asked bout the rust as i have bought 2 a82 twin cams in 2 weeks and learning where they rust Rear guards, around fuel flap and sometimes on the A pillars. Out of about the 10 AE80/2's I have had I have never had one with rust in the pillars, At the moment I Have one with no rust at all, One with rust in the rear guards and fuel flap and the other has rust around the fuel flap. Naming car's has never been a thing of mine (can't really understand it) But I reckon to call it Down, Down the hatch. Edited May 10, 2010 by Trev Quote
Paul Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 Right A pillar is worst. Then right rear gaurd. Then Left A pillar. None of any of the above are much worth worrying about. You could just about fit my whole AE82 in some of the holes that my AE70 Sprinter has. By the way the Triple J and Roxy stickers are no longer on the rear window. The Jesus fish is staying, the middle "S" will be replaced with a "B" as this car has now been named 'Jebus'. If you don't get the name you need to watch more Simpsons, lol. Quote

Paul Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 Blacked the bars this-arvo. Took a while. RWCert tomorrow. Gonna most likely service it on the weekend as I got all the shit to do it. Most likely do a pickies run Sunday to get some SV11 Camry wipers as the drivers one is stuffed anyway. Hoping to find a overrated red CSX gaurd and bonnet too. Quote
Paul Posted May 15, 2010 Author Report Posted May 15, 2010 Just got home from the wreckers, scored an original red fadey bonnet so the hail dented re-pained one can go to toyota part heaven with the rest of the crap lying around my yard. Will polish it up tomorrow to tie in with the rest of the cleaned up body work. Rust repairs tomorrow too if the weather is good. Quote
Paul Posted May 21, 2010 Author Report Posted May 21, 2010 Car is now roadworthy and polished to within an inch of it's life. Also got full comp insurance so apparently this thing's worth two grand. Someone please run into me, lol. Quote
Paul Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 Selling this car this week for not much money as I found an AE71 and bought it. Picked it up tonight, it's win. AE82 = fail. I remember why I said never again after I sold the last one. Quote
