Hokey Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 yeh thanks SJ i have seen that but i was just wondering what rob has done Cheers Quote
rob1 Posted September 5, 2005 Author Report Posted September 5, 2005 Gday hokey. Basically what I did was used modified engine mounts rather than modify my cross member. I still had to use a new hole in the engine mount, but the engine sits more to the drivers side than if I just used standard ta22 mounts. The mounts I have have been cut and welded slightly. Not majorly though, I got them like this and if I were to do the conversion again I probably wouldn't worry about it. The bloke who helped the most with my conversion has been involved with building a few 2tg ke35 race cars and on all of them they haven't worried about it. The amount that you have to move the engine to have it sitting dead straight is not imperitive to handling, it's mor for looks. Unlees you were going to build an absolutely ultra-perfect race car then I would not worry about it. Â Here you can see how I used the different holes in the mounts. Â Quote
Hokey Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 ok sounds good. i would like to keep it as far away from the drivers side to clear the master cause i have the PBR MC which is fatter. Quote
Tiger Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 This is a tough little 55 you got here dude  Me likes... especially the flares! Real tough! Off an A9X Torana, yeah? Quote
rob1 Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 Nah, te27 moulds mate!. Â Hokey, you won't avoid the pbr m/c, at all. Maybe efi might, but side draughts won't!!!! Â I can guarantee it........ Â Just get a ke30 booster and m/c from the wreckers. I think I paid $70. Quote
rob1 Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 This is how close my carbs go to the ke30 master and booster. Â Â Â The pbr master is a lot bigger. Quote
rob1 Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 Â Imagine this in place of what I've got now................ Â The booster is about 2 inches wider in diamter, and the m/c is offset towards the engine!!!! Quote
Hokey Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 yeh i am upgrading the brakes i think i am putting on a T18 master and i will see if that fits up to the ke30 booster. will tackle it when i come to it. my cousin has quite a few AE71's sitting at his hous aswell so i could try that combination of booster and master. Cheers, Calvin Quote
rob1 Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 A t18 booster and m/c will clear the carbs. My mate had this combo. Quote
Hokey Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 cool i have that lying around aswell. i will put the brakes on aswell then. Cheers :P Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 you guys have nothing to bitch about...i had to shift my engine over 2" to clear the fuel press regulator. imagine a ke 18 with an extractor and efi....... then imagine a m/c and steering box ON THE LEFT SIDE (LHD) too bad the engine didn't tilt to the right.....
