Have confirmed injector pulse now.

Had a friend come and have a look with his awesome piece of machinery (a very expensive version of a voltmeter.) He connected it to the injectors and got pulse readings... Connected to different points in the electrical system and confirmed everything appears to be working fine.

However... Car is still; not running properly. His suggestion is that it is fuel related somewhere... So here goes on what we have checked in the system

Fuel Pump... Definitely a VL pump even bought a second hand one just in case I had the low pressure one and it didn't change the problem.

Fuel filter... Inline EFI and checked it is the right way...

Fuel... bought fresh fuel drained the tank and put in brand new fuel...

Manifold pressure... Re-checked and re-positioned the Vacuum hoses... I don't have a vacuum pressure test so I am not sure if this is at the correct pressure... It is a MAP sensor and we have tried two...

Bought a new Fuel Pressure Regulator... It will arrive on Thursday with the ability to adjust pressure and gauge attached.

It is definitely running LEAN... we took the air filter off the front of the throttle body and squirted fuel directly into the system. We can get the car to run but still no change in the system. We ran the car for about 15 minutes to bring up the temperatures and nothing changed in what it is doing... will have to wait till Thursday to see if we can get a result.

Problem is now that we can get everything working as it should in the electrical department. Definitely too LEAN in fuel and not sure how to bring that up.

Thanks again to everyone how has responded in anyway... Your help is very appreciated.

TREV: I have the 4-AGE Diagnostic manual I found online... it has been very helpful for everything else but not this one...

Cheers

Moses

Standard injectors, check the resistance?

Unplug the coil and ignitor and wind it over with the plugs out too see if any fuel is getting into the cylinders.

and do a compression and leak down test , check ignition timing also

OK Solved...

Sorry to take so long to get back here and write a report. Basically it had two mechanics and an auto electrician stumped for another two months.

Solution...

No direct positive feed from the battery to the injectors. However it was not as simple as checking the wiring diagram. There was a whole wire missing from the loom into the ECU. It happened to be found by accident very late one evening in almost frustration. Everything appeared correct as according to 5 different wiring diagrams that covered the early models. Including the ones that the auto electrician had. Seems that the car was not "running" when they took her to the wrecking yard in the first place.

So very big thank you to everyone here that contributed. Yes it ended up being wiring. And a very special thanks to Steve at Pharley's Spares and Repairs and his mate Paul for taking the time to help a rookie out and not charging what I should have been charged.

Kind regards

Moses
