springersrolla Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 gday lads a mates got a ae93 with 4agze lt8microtech front mount extractors exhaust nevo 175mm pulley.bigger fuel pump tvis and air mod done; Took it to dyno a while back and made 121hp which i thought was f@$kin shit considering the work done to it. Anyways just put some bosch p3 4 fr7kpx platinums and gonna get some new leads; any good brand of leads out there? It runs coil packs so what sort of voltage should they have? Would it be adviseable to do an injectors upgrade? Whats stopping this car goin harder and what sorta figures do you guys get with similar mods? Cheers Quote
GJM85 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 121hp sounds fair considering its probably a 17 yr old motor. Nevo pullies are poo. needs cams for more draw on the intake stroke which will get more out of the pully. definately needs big injectors. microtech cpu is poo unless dyno tuned. should seriously consider some bottom end work, like pistons and rods, flywheel and clutch to get higher rpm. therefore higher output. Johno Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 If your mate wants some cheap tuning and has a aftermarket ecu, he should get it tuned by a guy who knows microtech ecu's or someone who deals with alot of Jap cars, then they can get the most out of your engine. As the old saying goes, the gear you got is only as good as the tuner who tunes it. Because you got the ecu theres no reason you can't get bigger injectors or cams for that matter. A stock gze is about 170hp at the fly so for 17years on and 121hp at the wheels its not too bad :) The pistons and rods will be fine as they come forged from the factory. Quote
springersrolla Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 yeah the car was tuned by mazfix a reputable microtech tuner at springwood for a good day and the best they got was 121hp at 12psi; I'm no dyno genius but you wouldn't expect a more than a 30percent drop from flywheel to tyres; that gives a standard 4agze 120hp from standard 170 at the fly at standard boost standard computer standard intake exhaust. I just feel something is lacking and not right. The dyno showed a spike which i reckon was wheel slip or belt slip but they said it was fine. Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 i have had two ae90/ae93's, i had one dyno tested for 94hp atw, and my current one was dyno test with 125hp atw has NST pulley upgrade, Jazma headers, high flow s/s cat, rising rate fuel reg, stock injectors stock pump ABV mod done, and stock ECU so with all the other extra that the OP has on his car i thought he would be making a bit more than me? like people are saying get a good tuner to tune the ecu and the results could change.. kingsparticus Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Go find a 3L supra supercharged motor and stick the charger off that on ur 4A. that supercharger is 17 percent larger. As toyota superchargers don't like to spin more than 10,000rpm, a pulley opgrade is just gearing ur charger higher than the engines rpm thus putting it in the danger zone. This is where a larger charger will come in handy. Quote
Sloth Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 It also depends on the dyno.. When I got my 20v dyno'd it got a lot lower than I thought it would. One of the guys from the dyno said that each one will give a different reading (and the one I went to reads quite low). The only way to really know it to get it done at a different place for comparison, or compare it with another cars figures from the same dyno. Quote
