Taz_Rx Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Procomp anything is shit. Are you using it on a worked or vertually stock motor? VPW rocket etc have a pretty big mark up on there MSD stuff so if you can get a trade/mates rate price somewhere you'll save heaps. I can get cost price plus freight from one of my mates whos a rocket and VPW dealer. I got him to get me a price on a 6al once and I would be looking at about $260 ish instead of the $380 odd RRP. See what you (Tom) can get one for, and if you want me to get you a price through my mate let me know. :jamie: Quote
rockinrolla Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 7 series are digital Slo. Yes I think its worth it. There's several areas where it is an improvement: Capacitive Discharge, Better starting as Tom mentioned, Much stronger spark in general, Multispark for 20* under certain RPMs and the soft touch rev limiter (chips are cheap). It will replace the ignitor you're using for the elec dizzy, and pretty easy to wire up. In regards to the replacement of the ignitor, how do I with the internal ignitor, what goes where  :hmm: :hmm: ;) Quote
rockinrolla Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 don't worry figured it out and bit the bullet so to speak, went well and had plenty of spark, so much so that my son wanted to find out how much of a boot it had, only I was the test dummy, didnt see the little prick get in the passenger side and hit the ignition, after picking myself up out of the dirt and completed the sentance of profanities toward the arsehole, I caught him down the back paddock and proceeded to inform and demonstraight to him the dangers of high voltage. only problem now is, as the revs pick up to approximatly 3500 to 4000 it mis-fires as if the spark is jumping between the points inside the dizzy cap, a friend up the road called it phaseing, has anyone else had this problem???? nearlly finished. :hmm: :hmm: ;)  Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 haha thats some funny shit. Try opening up the air gap in the elec dizzy (you are using an elec one aren't you?). You adjust it in just the same way as you would a set of points. Quote

jono1986 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Another option is the Jaycar programmable ignition system, which allows you to program the advance curve in and can be used to limit rpm aswell (i think). The whole system is about $200, with optional knock sensing. Quote
rockinrolla Posted November 30, 2012 Author Report Posted November 30, 2012 What is the general thoughts from everyone about the pro comp range of ignition systems??????? :lovin: :lovin: :lovin: :lovin: :wootjump: :scarymovie: :scarymovie: :scarymovie: :scarymovie: :kiwi: :kiwi: :kiwi: :kiwi: Quote
