Womble1972 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) Hi I'm Rod and I'm new to the forum. I have little mech knowledge but can swing a spray gun so if i can help anyone there so be it. Anyway heres the background i got a ae95 wagon but the engine has done the bottom end. Its got 370000 on the clock but it is still a great car. I bought another 4AFE but it turns out its a 4AFHE jap import engine and has a few differences to the local engine. The main one is there is no PCV outlet from the block into the manifold. So heres where my questions begin. The PCV purges gasses from the crankcase into the intake manifold depending on throttle speed the more throttle the more the valve opens? There is another valve that looks simliar to the PCV is this the EGR? If so what is a EGR? Is there a way to bypass the PCV system so i can use this engine? If this isnt the right place for this sorry not trying to piss anyone one off just needing help. Thanks in advance Rod Edited April 30, 2010 by Womble1972 Quote
Trev Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Didn't know the 2nd gen 4afe had a bock breather, Can't you just run it from the cam cover to the manifold. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Is it part of the PCV system or is it a port for an external oil-drain for the head? Quote
Instigator Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) What made you buy another 4afe? :P Sorry can't offer anything constructive. My 4afe went straight to Simsys. Edited May 1, 2010 by Instigator Quote
Womble1972 Posted May 1, 2010 Author Report Posted May 1, 2010 At the moment its cost, and the locally they are getting rare the big importer EKW has gone down and i need to get a car going. 20 valve would be great. Maybe next time. Quote
